The report the company got from Coil (discussed near the beginning of their meeting) said that L would suspect Yotsuba if they kept up the pace of killings. That's why it was logical to suggest delaying the killings by 1 month to give Coil time to investigate L, then after a month they kill the ELF Insurance execs, and repeat process. They are now aware that Coil is aware of the pattern of Kira's killings benefiting Yotsuba, meaning they need to be more cautious moving forward.

9:20 its not that they're incompetent, its that 7 of the 8 people there ARE being held against their will. Of course they're trying to take an out. From the perspective of a prisoner forced to kill, not having to kill for a month, even if the logic is dumb, its pretty great.
@zile8869Ай бұрын
9:20 I'm pretty sure the rule for these company meetings that the current kira decided was that they can only kill 1 person per meeting, so that they dont become suspicious. Thats why they cant just kill both. Kira cant even bend the rule here just once because then he would reveal himself to the others. Or at least confirm he is among them. As for them having meetings so openly, dont act like that sort of thing doesnt happen in real life! There have been many such conspiracies that were so openly discussed using very little diversion, in recorded history. Some of which got caught out because of it, some did not. As well as many other well known cases where people handled important world changing tasks using surprisingly simply, and frankly quite risky methods. It is human nature for people to not want to put in any more effort than they think is necessary, so its only natural they'd keep going on this way since they dont think they are being investigated.
@BelbecatАй бұрын
I was under the impression and don't recall it being said explicitly, but I feel like sometimes when L started saying "kira" he was referring to the power to kill rather than the person making the decision behind it. Maybe I just started reading it that way because it would make much more sense for L to become obsessed with catching the power than the culprit if they can just pass it on and forget all about it like Light did.

Great reaction as usual, and congratulations on having surpassed 14,000 subscribers. I can't wait to watch your reaction to the next DN episodes. When Misa comments "I couldn't imagine the world without Light.", L replies "Yes, that would be very dark."

L is saying that if he dies light dies for the following reason: L is still fairly sure Light is Kira. Their arrangement is that light is only released once Kira is caught (I.e) light is cleared as innocent. If L dies before then, then arguably Light could have planned it and cannot be released. He’s still potentially Kira. Whether the police would actually follow through on that after L dies is a different matter Also, presumably if Kira finds and kills L then they’d also kill Light for knowing too much. So there’s also that
@KapitanWasTakenАй бұрын

23:31 Yes, that's true. Death Note was quite dark from the beginning, but, the more it proceed, the darkerer it becomes. Misa's levity is surely a big breath of fresh air, from time to times, in the episodes, and I like it as well. For what concern L, I've already express my idea: he was like that from the principle. Now he is forced to use even more baldy tactics, because he's on a dead trial. He is 95+% convinced that Light is Kira, and Misa Misa is the second Kira. But he can't prove it. Plus, he has learned that Kira's power can "jump" to a person to another... this is something he has NEVER experienced in all his career of investiagor, of course: when you start to investigate on one murder case, the murder, or the murders, are the same from the start to the end of your investigation; the culprit can't "change", depending of how much you're becoming closer to the solution of the case. This set him really off. Plus, there are the 7 stooges to deal with... he thinks that he has to act VERY BOLDLY, to try to solve the case. But he has his little "aces up his sleeves" from the beginnig: remember about Lind L. Taylor, the illegal survellaince he disposed on Yagami's and Takimura's family, with camera and wires even in their bathroom, h 24... KIDNAPPING MISA... having Light in jail for 2 months and an half... he's ALWAYS behaved like that. He now needs to behave like that EVEN MORE THAN BEFORE, if he wants to solve the case... that's all. He's not "turning to the dark side", if you ask me.
@storieswithstyleАй бұрын
I do think he is turning to zthe dark side, but he is clearly the far lesser evil. But more importantly, he is stepping away from his usual mo influenced and overwhelmed by emotions which Light in the end uses very well to... well... :D

@@storieswithstyle (Have you already seen ep. 25?) I get your point, but I think that, since you like the character of L very much (and the same goes with me), you've given he credits and moral patents that he doesn't deserves; he really has always used "tricks". Even try to get Light angry, to make him kills Lind L. Taylor, is a kind of "mental manipolation", isn't it? Moreover, I can't remember if in the anime, or in the manga (I think in the manga), L itself once says that what interest him in the solution of the cases is the intellectual work behind them, and not some sort of "justice sentiment" or the will to vindicate the victims; he also says that "Someone will certainly find me morally disgusting".

12:14 this rule is not for people to intentionally exploit. In the event that two Death Note users happened to be targeting the same person, there has to be some kind of defined cutoff point where the writings of the name is considered simultaneous and therefore ignored by the Death Notes. Otherwise, only the first completed writing of the victims name takes effect, and the other one or more are ignored.

The chains make L and Light share the same fate because the only way L can see himself dying at the moment is if someone with the second Kira’s power sees his face. And at that point, since they’re chained together they would see Light’s face as well and naturally end them both
@SCP.343Ай бұрын
19:58 L thinks he and Light are the only real players on the proverbial game board. If he dies, it's because Light killed him, and in the event that that happens, L will make arrangements to ensure that Light gets exposed as Kira, which means the death penalty for him. There's also the unlikely* (* unlikely in L's mind, though he's probably right) that one of the Yatsuba guys catches them in which case whoever goes down first becomes a literal dead weight preventing the other one from escaping.

@gabrielesolletico6542Ай бұрын
Yes.
@gabrielesolletico6542Ай бұрын
6:17 That seems sensed, BUT: 1) At this point of the story, L and the others thinks that Kira can transfer his power to one person to another. So, if they arrest all the Yotsuba seven exectuves, Kira (the original one, I mean, that we know is Light, but they aren't 100% sure he is) could simply TRANSFER his power to the Yotsuba managaer to another random person (remember that they don't know anything about the Death Note. They believe that Kira can kills people, only knowing their faces and names, just WITH HIS OWN WILL, and that he can TRANSFER THE POWER from one person to another, and that THE PERSON WHO HAS BEEN KIRA FOR SOMETIME, WHEN HE/SHE LOOSES THE POWER, ALSO LOST HIS/HER MEMORIES ABOUT BEING KIRA COMPLETELY.). So, arresting them won't help stopping Kira. 2) They're not 100% sure that Kira is one of that 7 person. They think it's probable, but not sure. One of them may only be in contact with Kira, but maybe Kira was the one contacting him, and offering his "power" in exchange of money. That's not very probable, but it's still possible. Or, even if one of them KNOW who Kira is, all that Kira would have to do for protecting himself, is simply to kill all of them, once he discover they've been arrested.
4:35 Means, Motive and Opportunity. I don't think they're strictly necessary, at least in the states, but prosecutors would typically want at least 2 nailed down to file, I think. I'm a laymen when it comes to law though, so I might be basing this off too much TV lol
@gabrielesolletico6542Ай бұрын
20:47 Well, yes. But he has ALWAYS done that. Do you remember the imnate that he uses as his double in ep. 2? "Ehy mate, you're about to be executed? What about you help me finding Kira?" and then he had Lind L. Taylor killed by Kira in tv... plus, he really thinks that Misa was the second Kira, and he doesn't know if she's acting innocent, or if she lost her memory. He probably believe that letting her investigate, and perhaps being in danger, will show him of she reacts... if she's acting, it would be difficoult to continue to act, having the possibility to talk with the people that are now in contact with the real Kira... she could try to sell L to the real Kira... OR, if she really lost her memories, a strong shock, like being in danger, in mortal danger, might have her back her memories and her Kira's power, for what he know. So, he want to give it a try.

About the mid-episode screen: 0.06 seconds is just 3.6 frames (out of 60), that's quite a wide window to finish writing the names at the same time. I believe L is torn emotionally, he likes Light but knows instinctively that Light is Kira but can’t prove it. I also think L is not accustomed to losing or this level of difficulty. In a way it’s implied he’s gotten everything he could want in life at least since becoming L, and is used to winning. His inability to deal with light and inability to deal with his emotions for light is driving him to corruption. But I also think L is right that arresting the 7 won’t stop Kira because it will probably just shift to someone else again. MIsa is the one sole reason I have a hard time recommending the anime. In a series where every other character is treated with such seriousness and sometimes even realism, it is extremely jarring to have this other character that is portrayed as a standard anime girl that's all cutesy and bubbly to the point it just feels out of tone, and you can't help but question if there's some other profound realistic reason why she's like this, and you just have to shrug your shoulders and accept it is just an anime girl being an anime girl, while an outsider will only be left scratching their head.

True but I think it could also be explained as a person with serious Trauma. Have to remember this girls parents were murdered and then someone attempted to murder her just for them to have a heart attack right in front of you. Yeah that person is going to be messed up and if she was young when her parents died it would actually make sense for her to be stuck in this more child like nature.
