I love Misa's character even more now even I watched it years ago as I can trully understand how smart she is and why she acts that way. Usually really smart people, mostly divergent with authism, ADHD, gifted... (sociopaths can do the same but not by the same reasons, for sure) some of those profiles, are considered childish or act that "naive" way up to late youth or even forever because of many reasons. One is the late/unequal developement of their brain: frontal lob mostly as it's the main responsible of the impulse, motivation and focus; so it makes them act the pure way they feel most of the times. if they feel comfortable with you or they love someone use to be that clingy that seems a little too childish but they's just showing affection. Another reason is the emotional intelligence, usually very important to know how you are and accept it so you're not so insecure to show your true self or even use it to your advantage. I'd say Misa is closer to the ADHD spectrum by the way she attaches herself to Light to the point of addiction and pretty toxic dependency. ADHD people must have an addiction or pure motivation to function as they lack dopamine generation, Misa seems she had some kind of depression up to a point (most likely the finding of the note) where she got a life purpose. I've been struggling with ADHD and "gifted" brain for so may years and now I see Misa differently. Hi btw! hope everything's going well! I think the reason the Shinigami's don't usually communicate if they run into each other is because it would alert the death note user that another death note user is nearby. It would be pretty alarming to light if Ryuk just started to talk to thin air from his perspective.(another Shinigami from Ryuk's perspective).

I don't really think she was smart last episode? Seemed like she took a very obvious route to kill L. Taking the world hostage is like the first thought that comes to mind when I think about how to go about pressuring L. I think you are overthinking what she did last episode, and that made her seem very smart, to you. She's decently clever, but also very spontaneous is how I read her

The subtitles could have made Rem's explanation a little clearer. "I despise you, so I won't die even if I end up extending your lifespan." Rem would have to be in love with Light and save him out of love for Rem to die.

Oh omg and also I've just realized that the very first lyrics to the opening theme (Yuusha by Yoasobi) are: "marude otogi no hanashi" which translated would mean "just like a fairy tale"!!! I really think you are on to something here, as this song was very written specifically for this anime. This moment is very similar to the ErenxMikasa flashback where he "just disposes of some animals". These are awful people that have done horrible shit, but him murdering them in cold blood was NOT the right thing to do. Some of the important differences: he is not a child at this point, he's doing this after years of mistreatment and trauma that the webtoon seems to go into greater detail about; this is not how he was raised but rather him cracking under a lot of pressure. Also he is (originally) told to slay them. That is a pretty specific command and as he otherwise would've been killed by the system, him actually killing them is excusable.

Fun fact: the japanese word the subtitles refer to as "friend" can be translated in multiple ways. An interesting one for this series is "equal".

Great reaction as usual. Given what we know about the rules of the Death Note, the following hypothesis could be given: a shinigami kills a person. If that person had survived, in the future he would be destined to be the cause of a traffic accident that would have resulted in the death of three other people, who would no longer die from that accident since the person who caused the accident died at the hands of that shinigami. Therefore, a shinigami has unintentionally prolonged the life of those three people and the shinigami won't die by that. The rules say that a death caused by the notebook cannot cause more deaths, but there is no mention of extending lives, which is why Misa is enjoying her extra life thanks to Jelus. Considering that Rem has affection for Misa and none for Light, in theory she is only killing L, which would not backfire her because she is not killing him so that Misa lives longer (although that could happen because a living L is a future risk for Kira and his accomplice) but to help Light, whom she despises. Another thing is that in her mind Rem does it to help Misa and not for Light, which perhaps does put her at risk of dying if she killed L. I can't wait to watch your next DN reactions. I also hope that after you react to Arcane, you react to Monster.

Rem needed to warn Light in order to protect Misa. About the sui***e, the Death Note probably only cares about what is physically possible and relatively reasonable. It can control preople's emotions and actions to some extend, but only those of the victims. Also since you're not picking up on it, Light is supposed to be attractive. He is a top student, charming and skilled at manipulating people which we've seen with Naomi and Ray. That is also his biggest difference to L who is a bit of a weirdo in person.

Rem would only die if her killing L saved someone's life, neither Light or Misa are in threat of being killed by L. You could argue that in a distant future, if Light was caught then maybe he would be sentenced to death, but that probably doesn't count since it has other variables and is far too distant to make sense, Idk lol

I think the reason Rem has no issue sharing information with Light is because she believes she has the most power in the dynamic. Additionally, not being a psychopath like Light, Rem is coming from a place of emotion, rather than some tactical chess match mindset.

Rem tells Misa the way to kill a Shinigami is to make them fall in love with a human. Shinigamis will only die trying to save humans they love, so Rem won't be affected by saving Light, but will be affected by saving Misa.

Misa's aesthetic is called gothic lolita, a mix between goth and lolita (which is a japanese aesthetic where you dress basically like a doll/young girl). The result is those black dresses and dark makeup, but a cute and bubbly personality.

I believe that in his twisted mind, Light genuinely thinks he is making the world a better place and would be willing to die to achieve this goal. However, he would never trust anyone else to fulfill this mission. Despite his claims, Light's true motivation isn't to create a better world; when the anime began, he wasn't lamenting the state of the world-he was simply bored. The idea of creating a better world is merely an excuse. Light would be willing to cheat and kill L, but this would make him even more unhinged unless he felt he had checkmated him. While Light and L are very different in many ways, they both struggle to connect with others on an intellectual level. Their "friendship" is almost romantic in a literary sense.

At the moment, there is no evidence that killing L will prevent either Light or Misa from dying at the end of their current lifespans. After all, Light might end up beating L, or Light could die in an unrelated accident. Therefore, Rem killing L is not directly saving either of them, so she won't die. The taboo is when a Shinigami who loves a human uses the notebook for the purpose of extending that human's life, but right now we cannot say that killing L would extend anyone's life.

I'm going to mention it because everyone else seems to have neglected to so far, but Rem, Misa's shimagami, is a woman. She uses She/Her pronouns.

For me, the reason Rem wouldn't die it's because neither Light or Misa were close of the ending of their lifespans. This way, Rem would be just killing a human, but not for extending the lifespan of another one.

Oh thank god you caught on L's emotions! I argue with people over 10 years now, that he is indeed very emotional, but many people think he is emotionless... X_X Love that scene, also Light's irritation, and I think he also starts liking L too, so this is why it caught him so off guard.

Light's popularity is obvious if you're Japanese. Top student, good with manual work, soft and somewhat feminine voice, all traits of an archetype easily recognizable.
