its only common sense if we all just do course work for the remaining of the year so we can be taught the content wihtout the stress of exam and actually utilise the time to LEARN as we have missed out on soooo much already. I want go to college with a strong foundation not a weak foundation that will just topple in the first week

Everyone needs to go to the Government Petition website and type in: "Give Students the option to take exams or recieve Teacher Assessed Grades for 2020/2021". If this gets 100K sign ups,fhen it will be debated in Parliament..

Honestly the government is destroying mental health at this point. I’m lost on what to revise. My school does 7hrs of online school a week. A WEEK. People in primary are doing 6hrs a day and I’m in yr 11.😤😫. I wish they were more straight forward.

Do you think that if enough people oppose this "external exam" plan, that the government will scrap the idea and just do totally teacher assessed grades (which I'm pretty sure Wales are doing now)
@MrSallesTeachesEnglish3 жыл бұрын

@meganbailey71263 жыл бұрын
I already did it and think we should have teacher assessed grades.
@raze69193 жыл бұрын
i think having some sort of external exam is good, because it provides some evidence for teachers to base their grades on. It sounds silly to say it as "we're replacing exams with exams", but if they were more like mocks i think that would be better. It also gives teachers an indication of how hard students worked at home, it's only jan so a lot change change in between now and may. Honestly, this entire situation is a struggle. I have a full day of class, with more homework than ever, shorter deadlines and now i need to start revising for exams?
@JJFHNREHJEDK3 жыл бұрын
I just filled it in - their proposals are ridiculous. Exam board papers would be sat at different times by different schools due to self-isolation etc, so they propose that the papers should be published before we sit them as to prevent disadvantage. That's stupid! If the papers are public, we'll prepare our answers beforehand and cheat - what's the point of sitting them? Plus they cancelled exams as it's unsafe for them to go ahead and we missed too much time - so why replace them with more exams? CAGs like last year make more sense
@rowa28253 жыл бұрын
but cags are also unfair. they clearly stated the exams that will be set would be topics that youve already covered, so you wont be disadvantaged
@tomclark17253 жыл бұрын
@@rowa2825 there really is no fair way of assessing grades this year. CAGS will have massive inflation on grades. Full and part papers leads to disadvantages to a lot of students. Best way to do this in my opinion is to minimize stress on students and covid risk.
@rowa28253 жыл бұрын
@@tomclark1725 mini exams are a bit more fair though. your overall grade will consist of cags and these exams. this will give students a chance to get back on their feet again and have a some kind of checkpoint where they could properly show what theyre really capable of. most people havent even had a proper set of mocks yet
@mk123773 жыл бұрын
@@rowa2825 Realistically, a lot of teachers will just look at these 'exams' and just give the student that grade. A bit of advice is that there will be a lot of cheating going on in these assessments, using them as a 'way of seeing what you can do' is a nice enough sentiment but will probably disadvantage you in the long run. If you want to see what you can do, get some past papers off of your exam board's website and do them under exam conditions.

Good evening Mr Salles! This is completely unrelated to the video, but i was wondering if you will be making videos on A level poetry, specifically ‘Poems of the decade’ in the anthology of the forward books of poetry. Your GCSE analysis left me with two 9’s in English, and it would be amazing if you could make a few videos on A level poems as i, with my others, am struggling severely.

Half of my A-Level content has been taught online at this point and they expect everyone to sit papers? When people have had inconsistent teaching for 2 years? Let's just say I wrote them a whole essay for them. And I mean a whole 6 mark from Unit 1 Criminology essay 😂 At this point I think they should take A-Level students based on the grades that were submitted to UCAS. It's the only thing that actually had limited effects from remote learning. People made their uni choices based on the fact that the Education Secretary was CERTAIN we'd be taking exams this year. I can't see how that is fair to anyone. I made my choices back in September. Now I have two choices that I have no idea that I'll be able to meet the offer conditions.

Thanks for letting me know of this survery Sir. By the way, if you don't mind me asking, why did you put Strongly disagree for question 39: "To what extent do you agree or disagree that exam boards could only change a student's grade after a review of the evidence and discussion with the school or college?". To me it sounds like a good idea, because otherwise they would be able to change a student's grade with no consultation of the school. Thanks.
@MrSallesTeachesEnglish3 жыл бұрын
If the exam board are going to moderate what grades teachers have put for an assessment, they need to be the ones who set the standard. Schools should then do their best to meet those standards.If they are wrong, the exam board should be able to correct them.

i don’t understand the big issue everyone is seeing in the mini exams idea? people are literally comparing these mini exams to a wholeass gcse’s.. they’re called mini for a reason.. less questions, less topics, all the content you covered and they wouldn’t be a full paper with a long duration. it’s really not that bad of an idea.. they’re trying to make it also fair for the people who wanted to take the exams to show their full potential but now it’s gone away from them and they’re stuck with teacher assessed grades and they have a lot of its cons to it. make it optional at least in my opinion and the ones who don’t want to sit them then shouldn’t complain if their grades are lower and the people who took the exams got higher.
@mk123773 жыл бұрын
there are past papers for any gcse with any exam board that are free for you to do under exam conditions if you want to show what you can do. And I think the main issue is that these papers are obviously going to get sent around be the people who sit them first, so for most people they won't be accurate representations anyway, they would just disadvantage those who didn't cheat
