Aromatics are def a whole unique animal untop themselves. Practice makes perfect with any blend it seems. :)

Experimenting with different pipe has been awfully enlightening for me. I had never heard that a pipe can make a difference, and once I got bit, I would just retire the whole batch. I've learned better now. Thanks, Al!😊😊😊

An interesting experiment, nicely done and explained. I have also found that drying out a "moist" tobacco has a positive impact on reducing/eliminating tongue bite. Sounds like another experiment to me 😊. Does drying a tobacco reduce flavor? Some fellas think it does. Serene smokes ✓ Gary

@@oldandintheway1955 Wet or maybe I should say very moist tobacco should be dried some. In the past I have smoked three packs of a blend called Missouri Malta. I let some dry for a day or so. It still bit. Thanks for watching and commenting. Have a good one

The humidity of the tobacco is also something to consider. This is part of the fun with all this. Pipe smoking is complex and there can be a bit of an art with it for sure. I quit smoking Mac Barren Vanilla because it bites me pretty bad.

I'm in the process of teach my 64 year old mother how to smoke a pipe. I'm teaching her about packing, how different tobaccos perform in different pipes, cadence, etc. Anyhow, great video man! Enjoy your week.

Tongue bit is a pipers nightmare. That's why I stayed away from aromatic blends for a long time. Last fathers day my son gifted me a corncob pipe with 20 aromatic pouches. I had to learn to pack very lightly and smoke slower. Now I enjoy them. Crazy snow in south Texas allowed me to smoke inside and the family like the smell.

Good experiment. I would have thought that packing it lightly would make it burn faster and hotter. The thing it’s nice about corn cob pipes is that they are so porous that no moisture can collect in them. Therefore, I think you’ll get less steam building up. God bless you, my friend.

Have you tried simply cutting about a 2 -2 1/2" pipe cleaner, folding it in half, give it a twist and sticking it in like a filter? It seems like it might fit that small hole.

Does drinking a cold drink while smoking help with tongue bite?

@@JBCaudillKnives Yes I think it does, but I think the best is to stop smoking that particular blend or in this case pipe.

anything carbonated will make tongue bite way worse. Milk soothes it, or coffee with cream or milk goes well if your having bite.

Hey brother ! Them green tip matches have a very high content of phosphorus in them. It will cause lung damage if you inhale. Just letting you know that. Most people don't know.
