It irks me that the "FaZe OGs" are framing the brand's downfall as something that just sort of happened to them rather than the reality of the situation, which is that they ultimately caused it themselves. Exact same scenario happened and Hecz ended up losing the org completely (Hecz would never sell unless that was the only option left; he had to sell in order to be able to compete). Fortunately, he was able to buy it back and OpTic then merged with nV to put them in a better spot financially. They sold and it hasn’t worked out in terms of FaZe being meaningful like it once was. But the reality is Grace has just joined at a bad time after the OGs have been very public with their ownership and Grace is just the example of a bad decision. I wouldn’t consider it personal, rather wrong person, wrong time.

This is why it's more common to see organizations change their name or completely reform following a disaster like that. It's much easier to start over with a clean slate than to build up from a negative reputation. Publicity stunts are generally viewed negatively even from well respected organizations, so pulling one of those when you're already viewed negatively isn't helpful. If they really want to rebuild FaZe, they're going to need to grind back up. Clean house, set high standards and policies for new recruits with thorough vetting, and stay out of trouble for a long time while racking up small wins. Transparency helps a lot, so making it clear any behavior that disgraced FaZe in the past would be treated with a zero-tolerance policy. Take an example of how other organizations deal with misbehavior: OTK. They've had a few scandals. One was with Rich who was promptly removed despite being a founder and his behavior was condemned by the organization. From day 1 they've had a zero tolerance policy here. When Miz was embroiled in a scandal, they suspended him while they investigated and all of this was done publicly. An example of how even slightly mishandling things causes long-term damage is Method. They're a large streaming organization beyond just the WoW guild. One of their WoW members, Josh, was involved in a sexual assault allegation, and the leadership was aware of this. When the victim of this alleged assault came out with her story and it was revealed there were criminal investigations in play, he was removed as were some people in leadership who tried to cover it up. A lot of independent creators streaming under the Method org left promptly due to how badly this was handled, and their reputation was severely damaged for years. It still hasn't fully recovered. There's nothing wrong with wanting to do this, I just don't think people will see what they're doing as a step in the right direction. I certainly don't.

There's 2 points you kind of skimmed over here: 1. I think Grace is being used as a scapegoat for everyone to vent their frustrations. FaZe just laid off 40% off their employees and then hired another celebrity for potentially 100,000s if not millions of dollars on the back burn of that. I feel like the take that people are primarily hating on Grace (especially because shes a girl) is simply wrong. First off, any similar signing from orgs like 100Thieves or OTK recieves generally unanimous praise, because it makes sense for their buisness roots in that type of content creation. There's also the fact that, as stated, there are a multitude of talented women in Esports that fit the Faze branding more, who fans wanted to see signed due to the fact that female competitors tend to get looked over in comparison to their more casual personality-based streamers, which are almost always more popular when it comes to female streamers. Most people - in fact almost every take I've seen myself, tend to be almost the same lines: "This signing is condescending at best, seeing as they almost entirely admit they signed her primarily due to her acting fame, and because shes a woman, as opposed to because of any related talent, or because she fit with Faze and their brand image. I feel sorry for Grace, because she seems like a good and genuine person, who you want to see succeed, but her signing was a mistake by Faze". I've yet to really see much hate directed at the person of Grace herself, but instead at the idea of Grace as a signing for Faze. She obviously is a popular streamer, and genuinely wants to be seen as that after her departure from acting, but she doesn't really fit Faze, and people are clowning Faze for what looks to be a desperate attempt to fix the health of their business by going against what made that business a success from from the ground up.

Nobody really comes out of this looking good, but I've gone from entirely on Grace's side, but still thinking it was a bad choice that she wasn't really at fault for, to having lost a decent amount of respect for her very quickly, as even other parts of her response implied that she only cares that this will get her more money and fame. Not what I expected based on what I knew about her, simply put.
