the logs were for free but it took you a day to get them at your place unloaded. you got a nice truck and a sturdy trailer plus a great mighty tractor to do the job. put it all together and your for free costs you more then a handfull of dollars. like your video, jou got a thick tumbs up and a new subscriber. thanks for sharing.

Very nice. I get a lot of free logs too. We have sold 1/2 a million board feet to the building supply over the years and most of the logs were free. Folks around here do not burn pine in their stoves because of the pitch. Too lazy to clean the flew I guess. It sure has worked out for us. Over the years we have had a niche in the market specializing in 1"x12"x16'. Sugar Pine, Ponderosa Pine, Douglas Fir, western Red Cedar and Port Orford. All the houses and buildings on our off grid homestead came from timber on our own land using A LT40HD Woodmizer. I will have to watch more of your videos to see what your doing, thanks and have a blessed day!

I took my 1967 diesel, recently rebuilt, out today for the first time to plow snow. I have been waiting for snow so I could put a load on it to help seat the rings properly. These old Ford tractors sure are noisy with the solid lifters and required valve lash. I just love my tractor too. I am looking forward to see if replacing the rock shaft piston seal which I did will cure the bouncing when I attach my post hole digger. Your’s is looking great, no bouncing at all. :)

This is the first time that I have ever watched one of your videos and I must say, for a man who supposedly works with logs as an owner/operator of a sawmill/lumber business, you somewhat surprised me. That is, at how little you actually know about using a cant hook to maneuver logs into a desired position and the off-loading of logs from transport equipment and onto an open trailer. Keep doing it your way and you will surly end up with either a broken ankle or a broken lower leg. Even more surprising was the fact that you seem to admit in your narrative, that you did not know your trailer's weight limit, which is a must if you are going to load heavy logs. Additionally, if there is a question about the weight of the logs to be loaded, you need to know how to judge the approximate weight of the logs themselves. That is done by calculating the log's Length X's Diameter per species. Other than those surprises, the video was well edited and interesting. I sincerely wish you well in your business. In truth, if I were still a young man, I would start my own sawmill business and forego building with milled lumber, as I did when I [was] a young man. Now that I have gotten your ire up, I offer the following tried and true remedy, for safely and efficiently loading logs unto your trailer by yourself, without additional help. (i.e.) Look up Matthew Cremora on KZbin, he has designed and constructed an extremely efficient system for dragging, lifting and loading logs onto a trailer like yours. The plans for building the system are free and the few materials that you will need to buy locally, is quite inexpensive. In fact you can actually watch him build the video in which he designed and built the system for his trailer. Following his design plans, you will be able to load any logs without the assistance of a contractor or the need for additional machinery, saving both in time to load the logs and the need for the contractor's help and equipment in the loading process. (Which will make the contractor happy and more apt to call you the next time he has logs to give away ).

When you flip the latch down on the trailer tongue hitch, there's a hole through it sideways. It's really a good idea to put a padlock through there so it doesn't pop itself open . You can also put on a breakaway trailer brake system for not too much coin, my switch and battery from etrailer was about 50 bucks, charges itself. You can just run brakes on the front axle, not a big deal to put on or maintain. Really a big difference in stopping power.

Good score on those logs. No sense burning or chipping up perfectly good logs when you could mill them up into lumber and build something. Perhaps a nice wood shed to store all your lumber out of the elements.

I would have dropped the ramps on the trailer before loading. Just in case of a moment of bad steering by the loader operator. And it clears the way if you have to jump free.

You should put a safety pin in that trailer.my buddy had his flip up on a bumpy road n off it came broke both safety chains n went into the on coming lane to find a caddilac.he lost everything.nice to get the free logs dude.

Take old truck tires and cut one up so that you can make drive over fenders. What ever you weld on can be below your bed and bolt the tires to that and you have free drive over fenders. No more throwing debris when you are driving.

I believe this one is just a homemade boom. They are available commercially at Tractor Supply and I would think whatever farm supply store is in your area. It's not limited to logs. It's extremely handy to have around.

I thot your hand signals were OK. There were some other things that drove me wacky. But then I'm a former tower logger from Southeast Alaska. As I've gotten old and somewhat crippled up I've mellowed out about 60%. Which means I don't smash my tin lid in and flip out constantly. You got a nice free load of of nice looking saw logs, good reason to be mellow and easy going. I'm VERY IMPRESSED with your 3 point hitch tong jib. What a GREAT idea !!!! Experience and skill leads to speed and quality. Your doing great ! Keep up the good work. I like your vids.

You are right about most of these fellas who had rather burn or bury them instead of allowing you to have them for free. It is like that where i live. They push them up and burn them like they are happy children playing with their new big toys.

Thor Thunder I think a lot of it is a time issue. It takes extra time to try to arrange to have someone pick logs up. Plus if he’s loading logs for me that’s a lot of extra time too. It’s probably more cost effective to just set fire to them, sadly. This gentleman is very gracious.

I agree, and that is why i say most are not willing to just load them. They take time to push them up in piles all the time and never offer them to anyone. I even pay the ones that have them and do not want them so i never get anything "free." I wish more were like that fella but sadly here they are not. I just witnessed over 500 trees taken down and burned to construct new homes or sub division not even in progress over in Dyersburg, Tn. The trees were oaks, other hardwoods over 15- 30 inches in diameter and over 30 feet tall. It was an old area full of nice trees, such a bunch of greedy selfish no good people that will work all day and into the night to take them down and burn them before they would let someone come in and cut them first which would have helped them out very much.

Be careful, those logs are heavy. One wrong move and... Just be aware of that. Don't be so concerned about your trailer, or even your truck: they are replaceable, you aren't. If something happens: MOVE, JUMP, GET OUT OF THE WAY! Ok, that's it for today's safety meeting, sign the attendance sheet on your way out.

I would of hate to make at hour trip back without trailer brakes man. I would also load the logs even with the dovetail next time to was up on that tounge weight some and if you put the rachet of the strap on the drive side you dont have to walk as from to unstrap and its also easier to keep a eye on them in your mirror. Not trying to be a know it all but i have hauled hundreds of loads of logs behind a pickup.

What the weight limit of your trailer and how do you calculate weight per log? It always makes me want to scream “safety” when I see someone step in between rolling logs. I’ve seen my share of smashed feet and broken legs from logs. That tractor has one hell of a three point hitch!
