When I was 17 I cussed in front of my Mom. In less than a second my Dad was in my face and let me know in no uncertain terms if I ever spoke in such a manner in his wife's presence I would sincerely regret it. I was sent to my room and grounded for a month after adequately apologizing to Mom. Had to also apologize to Dad for disrespecting his wife. I have a feeling that if I actually put hands on her my body might still be missing. I deserved my punishment and love my parents for teaching me to be respectful.

Yeah abusers like yourself always blame the victim. It’s funny how women justify women hitting children because “they push your buttons” but when a man hit a woman because she trapped him in the corner and was saying the most vile things she could think of to push him over the edge then now magically it’s “there is no excuse for hitting a woman”.

Eh, but smacking your kid to see if they will get angry enough to smack you back isn't really what I would call good parenting. In fact, I would call that BAD parenting. Ephesians 6:4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

In what jurisdiction is an adult permitted to physically assault another adult and claim immunity from prosecution for said assault due to familial relationship? Parents do not own their adult children, and should be prepared to suffer whatever consequences arise violating those adult children's rights under the law.

The second case doesn't gel with me either. When my son was 11 he came at me with a pair of scissors. I was still strong enough to fend him off. This happened after he and some friends started a grass fire on the outskirts of Perth, Western Australia and I caught him in an outright lie about the incident. To give him credit, he was the only one in this group to have the wherewithal to run back home and call the fire brigade. Several hectares of farm land was lost, thankfully no loss of livestock. The second time, he was 15, now towering over me. It was a minor "difference of opinion" and he ended up shouting really disgusting verbal abuse at me. I said I would not tolerate that kind of language (never raising my voice at all) and told him to go to his room to cool off. He replied, "Who's going to make me?" I said, "I am." Whereupon he flew off off the couch where he had been lounging, stood inches from me with fists clenched, "Yeah? You and what army?" I was quite afraid by this time but I noticed that my husband had heard the commotion and was standing at the doorway, so I replied, "If you want to hit me, go right ahead." So he did with that clenched fist right near my eye, smashing my glasses sending me to the floor with a bleeding cut upper cheek. My husband walked over, put his arm around our son, looked back at me on the floor as he led him away, saying, "Well you asked for it!" I have not seen my son since, nor his father and that was 33 years ago.

Does anyone know if this mom needed assistance to walk prior to this event? Or did her son cause it? Weird nobody said a word about her disability if she does have one. I am the youngest of 9; 7 brothers,1 sister. The only one of us who ever upset our mom that she hit him was one brother. As teenagers we were all rowdy and pushing limits ie the time to be home , if we could ride in cars... .But only one brother upset our mom causing her to really smack him . He was so disrespectful to her, mouthing back to her, threatening her etc. Some teens turn into people we don't recognize. I would definitely side with this mom! And why did the judge give her such a high bond? That's ridiculous! She should have received time served -- " go home. " Whi called the police anyway? The teen who hit her and ran into hiding? What a weakling He hits his mom ,runs and hides? Are we sure he's not a toddler who hides under the dining room table? IMO

My brother was a cop in a major city. Him and his partner were called out to a location where the mother of an adult teenager would hit and steal from her regularly. The teenager was caught by my brother and his partner and brought back to the mother’s residence. They tied her son to a chair and presented his mother with a blackjack. A blackjack is a piece of heavy lead wrapped in leather which police at the time carried in their back pockets. The mother proceeded to beat the living shite out of her son and was threatened with arrest and more torture if he did not change his ways. That’s how you handle a adult child on drugs who is violent towards his mother.
