Your fern print beginning at 2:42 and with the final pull at 3:28 was just perfect. I'm not sure which colors you used earlier for the paper that took the final print, but they were perfect for that print! Thank you, thank you. I always look forward to more.

Truly beautiful prints, Cat - I love them all - especially the one you did with the ferns in reddish brown paint, I think it was. I am really enjoying your video's this evening, think this is either 4 or 5 I have watch tonight. Love your style it looks so random but your prints are awesome …. I notice you use printed matter to, are they for just mopping up the gellie or do you use them too because they all looked awesome also. I haven't used a Gellie block yet as they are so expensive here in Australia and that's a luxury I just can't afford , so I have improvised, not fully successful enough to have some fun , it's like a mouse pad but thicker, it will do for now... Thankyou so much fornsharing your talent with us all....XXxxx

Me again with more comments & questions: I've been noticing some of the cool color patterns that you've been brayering out. Have you just played with just color combinations & designs with brushes? We used a similar monoprinting technique at the Discovery Center with leaves and used damp watercolor paper to lift the prints. Some people even brushed on color to the backs of the leaves in addition to the color on the plate. Have you tried the paper or the colored leaves? Have you used phone book pages to print on? And finally, what do you use to clean the gelli pad? I read somewhere that people either use wet wipes or hand sanitizer.
@CatHand
@CatHand 9 жыл бұрын
+Dolores J. Rush When I'm cleaning my brayer I have no plan in mind - just putting down paint. No, I haven't used damp watercolor paper, but I have used leaves in my gelli printing. I haven't used phone book pages yet, although I do use magazine pages, book pages, music sheets, & dictionary pages. I mostly use a wet wipe to clean my plate, but I have used hand sanitizer as well.

For the non magazine pages, what kind of paper did you use? ?Also which paints? Really love the use of leaves. Some of the prints look "fossil-like" which is a really cool illusion. Also like that you don't fully blend the colors so there are pockets of color.
@CatHand
@CatHand 9 жыл бұрын
+Kyle Aldrich I use several different types of papers when I'm gelli printing, including regular printer paper, cardstock, graph paper, book pages, music pages, deli paper and junk mail. I mostly use inexpensive acrylic craft paints and I leave those pockets of color deliberately. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!

What an enjoyable video, Cat. And the music was good too! I learned a lot, but I in my experience with this it takes practice and after practice-then is when I can learn a lot from a video like that. Thanks loads. I noticed you were using magazine paper a lot. How do you use those? Collage?

Thank you, Ruth. Yes, it does take a little bit of practice and it’s a lot of fun! I’m glad you enjoyed the video and found it helpful. great video! can you tell me which stencils were used, i love the one that looks like eye shapes
@CatHand
@CatHand 8 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Carolyn. The stencil with the eye shapes is called Blazonry, by The Crafter's Workshop. The one with the paisleys is called Paisley Delight, by Plaid FolkArt and the one that looks like flowers/circles, I believe is by Heidi Swapp, but I don't know the name. Thanks so much for watching! :)

which size Gelli plate is the most useful do you think? Can they be used with art journaling?
@CatHand
@CatHand 7 жыл бұрын
Yes, I attach gel prints to pages in my art journal all the time. I collage them, use them for backgrounds, doodle on them, etc.

Are you using single ply magazine pages or have you glued pages together? I just bought a gelli plate and I want to get started. I'm watching all the videos I can b/4 starting to see what I can do!!!!!!
@CatHand

Hi Betty - I use single magazine pages. Just remember to remove them from the plate carefully when you’re pulling your prints, as they tend to tear sometimes. You’re about to begin an extremely fun experience - ENJOY! 😊

I am new to this and would like to know the best kind of paper to use for gelli printing. Thank you
@CatHand
@CatHand 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Edna - regular printer paper works great. I use all kinds - card stock, printer paper, deli paper, magazine & book pages, newsprint, etc. You can experiment with different kinds and see which you like best. Have fun and thanks for watching! 😊

Any idea why so much colours remain on my gelly after pressing the paper on it?
@CatHand
@CatHand 4 жыл бұрын
The plate will stain after some use - that’s natural and it will still work fine.

Try letting the under-layers DRY. then add paint on top. You'll get crisp wonderful prints. You're moving at a frenetic speed (even without the help from technology) and losing so many opportunities for beautiful prints. SLOW DOWN, let em dry and get some WONDERFUL PRINTS.

Clearly you know what you are doing and have a lot to show people; however, the whole thing is so fast that it's hard for a beginner to get much out of it.

Hi Betsy, Thank you for watching my video. 😊 You can control the speed of KZbin videos by clicking the three dots in the upper corner of the video you’re watching and then choosing the playback speed you want. Here is another gel printing video that I made specifically for beginners: m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/rqa7p6Npmd-VY5Y

The video doesn't give us pleasure to watch because it's too fast, it doesn't show us the result, the speed is too high for my taste.

You have the option to control the playback speed and the results were shown at the end of the video.
