Kathy, thank you for your question, and I hear you! Golden Fluid Acrylics have become VERY expensive. Helgi, of course! I would start with Carbon Black, Titanium White, Golden Nickel Azo Gold, Phthalo Blue Green Shade, Green Gold, Quinacridone Magenta OR Permanent Violet Dark, and if you still have budget, Primary Yellow, then Teal. Basically with black and white, then a blue, red and yellow, you can mix any color. I avoid the cadmiums almost entirely because they tend to make things muddy. @VikkiReed10 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for your question, you can print on thicker paper, and I have even seen some artists print on canvas and fabric, although I have not been successful with that. If the paper has tooth or texture, the print is harder to capture. I print on the rice paper, then use it as collage in mixed media pieces, so potentially, using it in that way, you could add to it.

Thank you for the videos Vikki! What caused the base layer to have the white speckles throughout the papers? Was there a resist medium in the paints? Thank you! Lynn

So beautiful! Does the color have to dry before applying the next color?
@VikkiReed Жыл бұрын
Eija, great question! I am in the Southwest Desert where it tends to be very warm and dry, so what you see is in real time, and the prints are dry almost instantly so I can continue on to the next layer. If you live where there is a lot of humidity, or it is very cool, that needs to be factored in, so yes, it needs to be dry!

Oh my gosh, Carol, that sounds super frustrating! I don’t know anything about the rice paper from Dick Blick, but I can’t imagine why your plate is sticking so much…and you’ve even treated it with mineral oil! I can tell you that humidity and temperature levels do affect your prints, if it is under 20% or over 55% humidity, it’s very hard to get a good print. Also, I use fluid acrylics almost exclusively as opposed to heavy body, which I use only for photo transfers and projects similar. I would be very discouraged if I had gone 500 prints without success! I’m hoping for better results for you soon! BTW, I use JapanBargain Calligraphy Rice Paper from Amazon as my rice paper…
