I have been a frequent shopper at Harbor Freight and recently I found some new great tools to use in my quilt room!

I have never seen any of your other videos. I shop HF for tools to build marine engines from GM crate motors. I clicked this video to get a different PoV and to get insight/think outside the box. My Grandmother was an avid quilter. She made a quilt for me to use during my tour in the US Navy in 1980's. I still have that quilt.

I’m a retired ER nurse. We used disposable suture kits. Instead of throwing out the instruments, we would wash and sterilize them. Lots of tiny scissors and hemostats for turning fabric RIGHT side out. Just a pet peeve of mine. I’ve got the magnetic bowl, a very large T square ruler for straight lines. Storage boxes for sm items, all from HF. 😊

I used to use the magnet bars to tension a quilt when I floated it. I just used them the other day to hold up my design wall quilt on the front of a Husky Steel garage shelf, they are great. Great ideas. Love the folding hand truck for small storage space. I haveused a luggage carrier for work travel laptop and file boxes but this is better for retreats. Thread holder and magnetic strip- so many potential uses. Gotta go to Harbor Freight soon. I used 2 small dollies from them to move my sewing machine cabinet out of living room for Christmas tree. I live alone and help is not always available when needed.

I have been a Harbor Freight fan for quite some time! I like cutting those tie-down ratchet straps apart for the 1” webbing because of the price (and while they do not necessarily make great ratchet straps for their intended purpose, the webbing is legit). I have an entire set of travel bags a/k/a sturdy shopping totes which I made from HF painter’s canvas with that kind of webbing as handles. I even have their grommets on the gussets of my bags! I showed a HF clerk my shopping bag one day and she was going to go home and dust off her sewing machine to make some. I am not often a quilter, but I am a sewist and an avid crafter, so I grab paracord, painters tape, and all sorts of things while I am there. 💞

I bought one of Harbor Freight’s smallest magnetic bowls. I set the little plastic box my thin pins are in into the bowl. Although ! purchased several items from harbor freight that i use and love - i think my husband took it one step further. Ive been wanting a tutto rolling case. They are pricey but functional. My husband suggested that a rolling tool box would make a better fit. So much so that he went ahead and purchased it and two drawers for my next sewing session away from home. Hes probably spot on with a toolbox. It will be durable and functional and so manly! Guess ill be rollin with my new rolling toolbox! Men's tools are amazing. I had a cart similar to yours that is pulled up staircases. I learned quickly that the laundry basket had to be wrapped horizontally to keep it from falling off. I also suggest that you get a bin big enough to put your supply boxes in. That will keep your equipment clean and safe. It will also keep them dry. I don't quilt, nor do I have a dedicated sewing room. I use a fishing tackle box. My small items can be easily organized. I also have a steel door that I use it to hang various papers on. A steel plate attached to a wooden door or wall could be used for projects. I keep a hammer, a wooden block, a expanding magnet, and pair of needle nose pliers in my sewing kit. They come in handy.

Your earlier video inspired me to buy the US General 5 draw mechanics cart in white. I was hooked. During their Black Friday/Christmas sale I bought the 9 drawer Yukon in white… the mechanics cart is my embroidery station. Machine easily sits on top and I can still access the area under the cover. The Yukon is dedicated to my sewing and quilting items….i cross border shopped these from the US back to Canada. I was only charged GST coming back into Canada. The Harbour freight store is 30 mins from my home in Canada. I was able to put the mechanics cart and Yukon easily into the back of my SUV at the same time. The prices starting around Black Friday were cheaper with the exchange than anything locally in Canada. Not sure why your magnetic bar wasn’t working. The US General brand magnetic accessories stick no problem.

These are several examples of the pink tax.... We all know that similar versions of these are sold to quilters and other crafters for significantly more money. It's very smart to get them at a store like harbor freight because you're going to save a ton of money.

I buy the carpet cutter blades at HF. They're about $2 for a pkg of 2 blades. They fit perfectly in my 45mm rotary cutter. Often times they're on sale for $1.49.

All excellent ideas. We don't have a Harbor Freight store in my area but we do have a small hardware store. I will check them out and see what I can incorporate into my sewing space. Thanks so much for sharing. Do you have a video on what to take on a quilt retreat. I'm an over-packer and any tips would be appreciated.

I’m an over packer, too! I’ve learned (for going to classes, anyway, maybe not retreats) that I need fewer rulers so I’ve reduced those to two. One is a square up, the other is my Grace 24 x 6 1/2 True Cut ruler. I always take my mini iron and wool mini mat because there’s always a line at the provided ironing table. 😘
