That poplar was so limby because it is open grown. There wasn't any other tree competition to help it self-prune. Also, I can appreciate your comments about the kiddos. I fully understand!

Lot's of fun hanging with the kids. Lot's of pleasure w/o them. Nice 8 point White tail buck skull but you can't keep it. Shed's yes. On the skull no. Weird rules but it helps prevent poaching. Colorado is different and you can keep them. Stay blessed young Lady.

I think the birds are Sandpipers, the first one with the long bill could be a Dowitcher, not sure. The park seems to host more wildlife now than when I was living there, good to see. The fish could be schooled up right now with the water draw down, but that is only a guess too. I know what you mean about couples videos. I’ve been on my own my whole life (I must be a real asshole 🤷🏼♂️). But I also remember that we’re only shown what the video presenters want us to see, and just enjoy the outdoors on my own. I think the park rangers could advise you on the sheds, that was a nice buck! Enjoyed the video, thanks for sharing your walk. 🙂

I always hike on my own, and it's honestly some of my favorite, happiest moments where I can disconnect from the world. I was definitely not built as an extrovert... I don't know what it's like with kids, but I could imagine it's quite the handful, but probably also rewarding in some ways. Good song, but I only got 1 minute of it from YT Music as a preview, sadly.

@@PACreekWalker It is, I don't know anyone else that gets as excited as I do when I find a flake. I hope you find a nice arrowhead soon! I have a collection myself, some of which may be jasper from your area, I think the natives brought it to western N.C. I find a lot of them that are exactly like ones in the books from the N.E. but most are quartz. I found a deadhead a lot like the one you did a couple of years ago with my truck tire while driving through a overgrown field. Its hanging on my shop wall now, after I got the tire repaired, didn't even know there were laws about such things. Learn something everyday I guess

Those shorebirds are really interesting. Not so much the Killdeer as they are more familiar(thought it is uncommon to see them in a flock, true) but the other ones. The one out in the water is a likely a Greater Yellowlegs, the backlighting is obscuring field marks but the profile is right. The other shorter billed ones I do not know which is interesting. Maybe a juvenile Least Sandpiper. What ever it is it's a long distance migrator that just stopping by briefly on it's journey that makes it a rare sight.

@@PACreekWalker Yeah I don't know rocks but I do know birds, at least the ones here in the mid-Atlantic region(I'm in Virginia near the Potomac). Have you tried the Merlin app? I have been joking around that it makes me obsolete as you use to have to go out with someone knowledgeable to learn bird songs(and calls) but now you can just let an app listen and tell you.

3:18 That bird in the water could be a snipe, which is in the sandpiper family and native to Pennsylvania. Then the birds you showed right after in the mud looked like regular sandpipers as you mentioned. One thing unique about snipes is that their brain is upside down. P.S. You sure do find a lot of cool stuff on your hikes.
@PACreekWalker2 ай бұрын
@@frugalsquirrel1725 cool! I think you are right about it being a snipe
@Parker3072 ай бұрын
I'm thinking it's not a Snipe as they tend not to be out in the open, their behavior is described as secretive and I have see them most often when they explode out of a marshy area after I have walked too close. Also they are chunky-er that that bird. It is some type of shorebird though, and a Snipe is in the shorebird group.

The outdoor couple thing is not fake, lol. Well....maybe it is, but I choose to believe it's real - gotta keep the faith. You just have to find someone whose weird matches your own. The tough thing for you will be finding your weirdo because of your lack of free time. Being a mom and a provider and managing your household probably takes everything you've got (and then some).
