Loved this. That long log that was lathered with turkey tail was amazing. And the blue ones on the ash tree were stunning. Laughed at the fox poop comment. I love the bark on sycamore trees, especially when they stand out alone among other species.

Glad you got away to NJ and back home safe now. It is clear to me that we share and appreciate the same things in nature and life. That is very cool. Bufflehead's are one of my favorite diving ducks ! Some people up here in WI. call them Butterball's. If you find a Pheasant wing laying on the ground again, look for a sky Blue color on the top of the secondary wing feathers. You will know then it is a male Rooster wing. A shout out for the, Melvin's, and JD Pinkus. I saw them this Summer. Nice video ! Thank you !

Just wondering if you got any info on the size of the poplar tree leaves. I have observed that some of the older ones here have smaller leaves and that it was more noticeable on ones that were growing out by themselves with large canopies. Maybe this is a subtle adaptation but I would like to know as well, if you learn anything about this let me know

Tulip poplar(Liriodendron tulipifera) is one of the largest/tallest trees in the east. Here in Georgia they are commonly 3ft in diameter near the base and the largest ones ive seen can reach 4 maybe five ft. I hiked a trail in N. Ga. with some massive giants. One of them was hollow and i easily stood inside it. It may have been 5-6 feet in diameter.

@@Parker307 Oh Yeah, I hate those things, I know all about them. They have killed perhaps millions of the hemlock in WNC over the past 2 decades. What I see in the winter is these, but during the summer it looks completely different. They seem to be eggs this time if year or maybe cocoons. During the summer they are definitely little fuzzy bugs. Some people treat them and the forest service has treated a few but it is devastating elsewhere

Fox poop where you want to sit - The fox agrees with you it's a really good place to sit. That variable colors on the Turkey Tail is so curious as well as attractive. Why do they have different colors? Why do they have stripy rings? They can be in those rosettes too, vaguely flower like. Are insects tricking into landing on them because they see a flower like thing? Why is the top surface fuzzy? I bet none of these have any answers in the scientific literature. I bet we have no idea why any of this happens.

Beautiful turkey tails,it's a pity the Pheasant feathers are just let to lay there,we used the animals we hunt for food, regalia and other uses as tools and clothing,it's sad that some folks just waste parts of the animals when the majority of parts can be utilized and what isn't used by humans our animals have the rest so all the animal is used and nothing wasted, but I understand not everyone was raised like I was and im pretty sure they just don't think about things like that and don't mean anything by leaving things like that
