Did you ever change out the distributor?

We changed the points, distributer cap, and rotary button.

@@fixintwo123 Did you adjust the ignition timing after replacing those parts? You're getting backfiring through the carburetor which tells me that the timing is out of sync. Also, with a car that old, if that's the original distributor, you can bet that the shaft bushing is worn to sh*t, causing too much end play and lateral wobble, so no matter how accurate you set the points gap, you're going to have issues with the timing because the points gap won't remain static.

Thanks for understanding. We’ll definitely look into the distributor shaft because I don’t hear any other old cars sounded like ours on startup.
