@@miguelatkinson that was not what I meant my man. Let me explain what I meant in the context of two different philosophies. In Buddhism: One of the main realizations that the Buddha got, via the proper understanding of dependent origination is that actually there is no Self to be found anywhere inside of "us". Matter (body) and Mind just follow nature rules, there is no person, no essence, no soul, no Self that is somehow directing or deciding what we do with "our" lives. In that sense, understanding Maya, the illusion is to understand that actually there is no "person" or Self in the first place. So if there is no Self, the how the Self could be bonded in the first place? In the context of Hinduism/Advaita Vedanta: Here, the main realization is that we are (and actually the Universe is nothing more than) consciousness alone. In a similar way to Buddhism, one reach the conclusion that we are not the body, not the mind, not the person that we usually think of. In contrast to Buddishm, Advaita says that there is indeed an essence, there is a Self, and that is consciousness. But consciousness, in contrast to anything else is not bound by Maya, here Maya is an appearance, of consciousness, in consciousness. When you realize this, you realize that you are nothing but consciousness and therefore, were never bound by Maya in the first place, you were/are/will be ever free. I hope this explain a little bit better what I meant. Cheers

@@miguelatkinsonBut if you are completely unaware of what you were before, each time you are reborn is the only time, so any sense of being trapped is absent. Unless you can recall your past lives, there is no sense that you lack freedom… until you start involving yourself with religion.

"you are the universe itself" "you are not god's doing, but you are god doing itself" I had heard this many times when i wanted to learn about myself, but it didn't do any good. What effect will it have on me if i just believed it intellectually? But today, i was kinda depressed and had no expectations to learn something neither did i try much to understand. And its true that in times like these you get insights on yourself, you experience what is being said. When he talked about the two forces opposing each other, i suddenly got that these are not fundamental forces opposing each other but these forces are different me only. There is one me who wants to improve and soar higher and there is other me which wants to just slack off and at different times they just overpower each other. So these forces are not different from me, they constitute me, so why should i be happy or sad when one overpowers another. Lemme just be aware of myself as a process going on. Also these forces are the reason that change is so fundamental. Even when these forces balance each other, the equilibrium is dynamic, stagnancy just cant be achieved. Feel free correct me anywhere if i am wrong or give suggestions!
@youarewhatyourelookingfor44969 ай бұрын
Wow. Very introspective, very nice. I have nothin to contribute other than I appreciate the insight. What would there to be to “correct” when it is your actual and factual experience anyway? Your personal experience, especially as you have just clearly laid out your vision of it is absolutely “correct.” It IS is it not? I see that nothing can be other than it is and whatever it is is exactly as it should be, irrefutable because if it could be something else it would be right? In my view, which admittedly could be wrong, change is perceptual not actual. A thing can only ever be itself, otherwise we are talking about something else. The example I like to use to illustrate is the vase and 2 faces. The only change that occurs is perceptual while the picture itself remains exactly the same. Which is it, the vase, the 2 faces, perhaps both or maybe neither. Maybe it’s something completely different than the vase or faces and I’ve yet to see it. I honestly cannot say but it’s a great illustration imo for change being perceptual rather than actual while the thing itself remains what it always has been and forever will be. I guess I had more to say than I knew about. lol.

Free will gives us the choice between Goodness/Truth (the forces that gave us life and consciousness) or Evil and Death (the forces that work against life and consciousness). I understand why these forces need and rely on each other but it' s weird that many people unknowingly or sometimes knowingly choose Evil and Death. Henry David Thoreau said “The only sin in the world is ignorance.” Socrates said "The only Good is Knowledge, and the only Evil is Ignorance." Since the majority of a humans total knowledge is something acquired throughout life and not immediately preloaded in your brain or genes; think the whole (nurture vs nature) thing and aging/death/entropy occur naturally to take human knowledge away through this processes of aging and death. It explains why there is this strange continual struggle and balancing back and forth throughout history. This is the best explanation I can come to so far. Much of the 'evolution' maybe can be explained by the gradual increase in 'knowledge' that is preloaded into the mind of each subsequent generation. I'm not going to say advancing the human race is the whole meaning of existence. More like advancing the human SPIRIT is the whole meaning of existence and this struggle of these two forces are essential in giving us free will and are the foundation of Good and Evil. There was a really good point made in that "Saviors of God" explanation in that there is still the question of why would God being all powerful (or maybe not entirely all powerful) give us the task of choosing Good unless there was a reason or something beyond just saving ourselves.

Beautifully done. It’s hard to synthesize the perennial religious aspirations that seem to focus on human well-being with a more recent view of evolutionary processes that seem oblivious to human concerns.
@youarewhatyourelookingfor44969 ай бұрын
Aye, *that seem oblivious to human concerns- That’s, imo, a very unpleasant truth. If what’s being said so beautifully in this video is true, the evolutionary process cares nothing about the immense suffering that goes on here. Wars, greed, rape, pedophilia, murder, violence, sickness, disease, famine etc etc. Are these simply functions of the human ego or are they the functions of evolution which are far and away removed from any sense of suffering and horror that results from the process? Rumi spoke of the “field out beyond ideas of right doing and wrong doing” saying “I will meet you there.” Hamlet noted “things are neither good nor bad, it is thinking that makes it so.” From the standpoint of everything being an evolutionary process, morality, compassion, love and anything we deem, or at least most of us deem “good” and or right seem to be gravely absent. It’s a very cold and very disheartening and disturbing view as I’m looking at it this moment. We are all just then the sacrificial lambs of god and or evolution and suffering is just then a thought and therefore imagined and meaningless. How utterly frightening. My own reflection here has actually disturbed my core. I’m suddenly feeling quite sorrowful and alone with my own reflection. 🥺 It can’t all just be for naught. No meaning, no purpose other than evolution. What a tragedy it would be then. Sigh. I wish I hadn’t seen what just came out of me. 💔

Evolution is the process of organic life striving towards a more definitive expression of God, meaning, and self awarness. God has already done it all, forever, and it's doing all of this now, purely for our benefit. Even if there is too much infinite possibility to ever manifest all possibility, it still has already explored all possible permutations, and thus, conscious experience, or being seperate from the whole, is it, allowing us to both co-create, and bear witness, to our own unfolding.

"The only appropriate way to refer to something so vast and mysterious is to use religious language." I must disagree. Religious language obscures the reality that is understandable. It's a metaphorical description with its place, but it can be superseded by a more precise language: mathematics. Or, even more precise: computation. I really enjoyed and agree with everything said in this video. I will add the "transcend and include" to the list of fundamental principles. It's a beautifully concise statement. But I would also like to point out that we understand an absolutely breathtaking detail about the nature of being, but that understanding is dispersed among many seemingly disjoint disciplines. Religion has its place. It's both memory and means of computation. But when God finally awakes, the transcendental object in God's mind, the understanding of God by God himself, will be a mathematical object. This one thing exists independently of everything else. Mathematics (and computation) bear all the attributes of God: it is eternal and infinite, it cannot be improved upon or diminished, it is not subject to change, it cannot be divided, and it cannot be added to, etc. It simply is. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. - John 1:1 It is a very elegant picture.
@seeker2seeker8 ай бұрын
Do you think mathematical or computational science is always more accurate than metaphor? To me it seems some things in life (especially those in the deeper dimensions of reality) transcend discursive/dualistic thinking. In other words, they are self-contradictory and yet true. Are not metaphor, paradoxes, and symbols particularly accurate in describing these?
@krzysztofwos18568 ай бұрын
@@seeker2seeker Metaphors are appealing to a broader base because they are more relatable. When you say something is akin to something else, the mind naturally creates an abstraction in terms of the patterns it is used to. But, you may have difficulty describing precisely how these things are similar. This is where mathematics/computation comes in. It allows for precise descriptions of abstract phenomena. Moreover, computation is executable: you can run the program and see how it behaves under different initial conditions. Understanding is always an object that, in some way, transcends the medium from which understanding was derived. What I concern myself with is trying to understand precisely how this process unfolds. On the one hand, you have precise computational descriptions of underlying phenomena. There are good reasons to believe that this is how the universe works. On the other hand, you have the perception of the underlying phenomena, which is necessarily a model, a metaphor. You never experience reality directly. Many strong theorems in computation and quantum physics suggest that fundamental reality cannot be experienced directly. Perhaps Nibbana is such an experience, but that remains to be seen. So, you live in a metaphor. Take the idea of gravity as an example. If you hold an apple in your hand and release it, it falls to the ground, right? Not quite. Gravity changes the curvature of spacetime, and spacetime at the surface of the Earth is approximately flat. Things do not fall downwards because of gravity because at the surface of the Earth, we are not in the presence of real gravitational potential, only apparent one. It's the ground that accelerates us upwards. At least, this is one way to interpret Einstein's "jump off a building" thought experiment. So, the mind is constantly confused by Descartes' demon that messes with our senses. If that's the case, how can you know what's true? Mathematics/computation is true a priori. In terms of the reconciliation of paradoxes, I can think of one method from my undergraduate studies that seems relevant, although I don't know how to apply it to neural computation (yet). It has to do with rewriting systems. You have rules that, in principle, could be applied ad infinitum, but at some point, they converge to a "fixed point." This feels similar to Aristotle vs. Plato and Nature vs. Forms, where they meet in the middle. The resulting object, e.g., a Fibonacci function from simple rules, is transcendental-it is both real, and yet it doesn't exist other than a flux of ever-changing computation. This is my way of contemplating Dhamma. It has a practical dimension, too. I believe that understanding this at the meta-level will eventually lead to an infallible method for teaching the Dhamma.
@Boodah1154 ай бұрын
Although you are correct in saying math is eternal and resembles god, i dont think the resemblance is absolute proof that math is god. God is a lot of things, likely everything. Mathematics is a language made by us, but Math in itself is always present even without observation of its effects. Its becoming increasingly evident that symbols and words are not the origin of meaning, symbols are a physical image that represent something that exists in our awareness of the world, words are not so much different from symbols, they both come to disguise themselves as the thing they represent. The word God has come to represent only one thing to us: the undivided creator of everything. The word “God” is only a representation of the real thing, it shouldnt be made a replacement because in itself it is just a word. The symbols in a void mean nothing, so do mathematics however there’s something that lies inbetween the symbols and things in themselves, that is infinitely more ancient than us and caused all of existence while simultaneously loving us infinitely. John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” meaning in itself is God, and there is a golden thread connecting meaning to the symbols that represnt it, and this golden thread is God.

What is the definition of ‘God’ in this schema ? What will happen to this ‘God’ when our universe becomes nothing, as it must ?

For those of you who think we're the same being wearing different masks, we're not the same being, we just come from the same source. Let go of my ego please.

Life is Eternal, No one created Life, Life cant be created, Life is Creator, therefore there is NO meaning of Life. Matter does Not evolve into Life, it is pure superstition. Meaning have to do with creation.

Brother, maybe your video wont be considered to have reached the world if you dont have somebody calling out your title as what it is: Blasphemy! Your choice of words attracts this. The word God doesnt stirr our hearts profoundly, God is the Lord which you submit to and adhere to his commands. You could have demanded to be given a better word. Peace from me to you, War from God to you, you will see.
