In my country, keeping mice alone is animal cruelty by law, and I'm glad it is. But here's another good reason why you should keep them in groups: guess how boring this video would be if i had only one or two of them. ;-)

Mice are such amazing pets ^.^ I used to hate it when my friends would call them disgusting, since mice really arent disgusting at all

You have to choose a place that is safe for them... check every corner, don't leave wires that they can bite around, and close the gaps that you find. If you don't want them going under the bedroom, block the entrance between the floor and the bed. At first, it might be interesting to leave them in the bathroom, usually is a very safe room comparing to others. Just close any gap, usually is a place easy to clean and that offers no danger. Just make sure none going to use it while they are there

But breeders in Holland and elsewhere usually keep them in very small boxes/cages and that should be no option. In species-appropriate cages (at least 100x50cm for a small group) with enough enrichment they are far more difficult.

She wasn't alone she had 3 other feeders, but she was my fav and she enjoyed being out of the cage with me more then being inside with the others.

It's more difficult than to neuter a dog or a cat, so it's more expensive in my country, about 80-110€. But in most other countries it's (much) cheaper. I'll send you a link on what to consider when neutering a mouse.

Did you know that you can keep male mice together without being neutered? In Holland, there are a lot of breeders doing that. They're much harder to introduce then females, but it is possible though :)

I trained my mice to do a few little things but now that they are older they are getting shy... Any way you can tell me how you let yours run around like that??? I tried but then mine just get sick from the cold floor and eat my couches. -.- I think the whole in and out of the cage thing makes them shy after a while.

Hi! The most important thing is that they can decide whether to leave their cage and have the possibility to return whenever they want. An alternative to the floor would be a table, fancy mice won't jump or fall off. And you can easily connect it with their cage.

Do you mind me asking where you are? Pocket pets like mice and rats aren't even regulated in the US. There are no cruelty laws pertaining to them whatsoever and it makes me incredibly sad. I have rats, not mice, but they're the same - they have to be kept in groups or they get depressed. (I've only kept males together so far with almost no issues and only one of the four was neutered.)

Its not hard to tell rodents gender. Males will generally have bigger 'butts' and will have their reproductive part up farther on their stomach. Females parts are close to the bottom of the tail/rump/stomach area. I had rats and hamsters as a kid, its not too hard.

Mice are group animals and cannot live alone (have you read the discription of this video?). Please let him be neutered as soon as possible, you can give him some females then. This will also stop the smell.
