Matt - great chat as always - one thing that's a bt new for me is fuelling correctly for running - I'm a recreational runner (of course) but eating carbs specifically to fuel my run the next day does seem to be working - but then having the odd day or meal with fewer or no carbs is fine too. Perhaps a video on how to start proactively using nutrition - or at least mentally planning your carb/protein intake around regular running could a good idea... jumping rope and strength training are also great for any newbie runners out there - I highly recommend you start getting this stuff into your weekly routine - you won't regret it

Hey Matt, I must say I really like your channel. Found it just recently and really enjoy the content. At first I thought you talk too fast, but eventually got used to that! (Shoes reviews are not my cup-of-tea, though sometimes find them intersting as well). Now about those running mistakes - I couldn't agree more with the list you described. To add or highlight a few things, then I would say that you learn the importance of strengh and conditioning only with (injury) experience. Not a week goes by that I don't strength train at least twice a week. It's not fun as running, but it definatley supports and enables me to continue running and do marathons; no doubt about that. One more thing: When the gun goes and the race begins - Always run YOUR OWN PACE and don't chase anyone, eventually you will pass them all in in KM 35 and on.... and it's always YOU vs YOU, we're not pro athletes, we just enjoy the sport/hobby. Keep those vids. coming. oh... and that:🦆🦆🦆

Great advice, and great video. For me, its about the type of running you do. Most of my running is based around trails, hills and mountains, up to and beyond marathon distance. Very recently, I made a late entry for a road marathon (Chester, UK), thinking that I'd crush it and run it faster than I did about 12 years ago due to all the strength and endurance I'd built up in the hills over the last decade. However, the prolonged engagement of different muscle groups during the race left me with ITB and achillies problems at about 20 miles in, forcing me to complete the remaining miles running in damage-limitation mode. A big mistake, and understandable in hindsight. 🦆
@its_Matt_B_17 күн бұрын

Good video Matt, also I think for beginner runners is good to get into the routine of some cross training, biking, swimming excellent way of building up fitness with less stress impact on the body, & for older runners it’s never to late to start running I started running when I was 48 that was 12 years ago, luckily I haven’t had any major injuries that stopped me from running more than a week, only this year since turning 60 got a knee injury, yep best thing for new runners is try to stay consistent, even a little walk or run 2 or 3 times a week is better than 5 runs a week then no runners for a month, consistent regular efforts is the way to go, cool haha 🏃🏽♂️😮👊🏼🥳✅😀

weight loss for me is important but I believe it can be done with proper nutrition and cutting calories on nonessential calories. I notice that just being lighter doesn't mean faster.
