It's only a couple of days since "The Running Channel" showed what happens to very good amateur runners when they attempt to run a half marathon @ 3:33 pace in a 5 person relay, then Phily does 12x1k reps @3:27-3:30 pace like it's just a walk in the park. Amazing.

I appreciated your comments on having a menstrual cycle. It can be hard training and dealing it. Hearing another woman runner address it makes me feel more normal! If you have any book recommendations regarding it I’d love to hear them.

As a female runner, I can definitely relate to the feeling you described in this video when you're running close to or on your period. About 6 weeks ago, I ran a 10k race on my period which went surprisingly well. This said, while my legs were fine with it, my head wasn't in it. It felt like running on autopilot for the first 4 km or so, my legs just did their work but I felt disconnected from it. When I was challenged by a competitor, I got more into it and felt more present in the race. So adrenaline probably helps. When training on my own, I wouldn't get that mental boost, I just try to get the session in even when I'm not feeling it. It is really interesting how the menstrual cycle can influence your mental state.

As a Texan, I can tell you that you never really know if it's going to be in the 60s (~15c) or in the 30s (~0c) in January, so just prepare for anything lol Also, do all gyms in England have a full size indoor soccer/football field?! So jealous! (Of the soccer field, not the workout, my legs could never hahaha)

Wow, that was super interesting. As a guy who ran 2.35 marathons back in the 80's and 90's the closest we ever came to supplements etc was a pal telling me to drink 2 litres of still water mixed with a can of flat coca-cola after my Sunday 20 miler ............ seemed to work back then.

I'm so curious if pros pay attention to their watch if it tells them they need a "Rest Day". I know when I'm in a marathon training cycle, I am FAR from a pro, it just tells me that I need to take it easier on the run. Curious how others approach getting the "Rest Day" message

Hi Phily, I have to tell you that the execution of your Squad exercise was painfully to watch. I would highly recommend that you work on that in order to prevent possible injuries. Try to always have your knees behind your toe level and try to have a little wider stance overall. Also: If you want to get the most out of the exercise you have to go deeper :-P I don‘t want to tell you what to do and I love your videos, so please take it as well-intentioned advice

Don't get me wrong, I love the grind, but you would be forgiven for not wanting to go out in the evening for gym+rehab session. Anyway, great video as always. When you are in Houston, perhaps you can say hi to the @global-runner, I love his content too.

So now that you’ve had a good race your a ‘pro athlete’ again, but when new balance ditched you, you didn’t want to be defined by what is a pro or not. Let’s face facts like all others you’ll say whatever gets you the most views. Dear oh dear another athlete more concerned with social media than actually performing.
