When I left the old ERA and top attack code in the game, I had no idea anyone would eventually use it for mods. Pretty interesting stuff.

M-84 never had thermals during the Cold war. Also no side panels, just the usual rubber skirts.

The mod replaces the T-72M or T-72M1 in this game with its fire control systems. Unfortunately, not all mods change can the models, yet.

T-72B is somewhat cursed... the smoke launchers IRL are clustered together on the left side of the turret.

@@PhanPhantasy let me know what you find out. I love steel beats but finding people to play with and trying to get it all organized is kind of a nightmare. Would be great if GHPC would be multiplayer and have a random quick mission generator like DCS. I think it’s one of the best things about DCS for solo and multiplayer . Generates, units, waypoints, and everything and then all you gotta do is jump in and get it.

Retired Abrams Commander here. I'm so very pleased that there are more games than Steel Beasts doing my favorite vehicle justice. The detail of the M2's spade grips for some reason really impressed me.

@@Rokaize Last I checked it was also $100. It's always nice to have more options. EDIT: I just checked and it's $125 and requires an authentication USB stick. That is some hardcore anti-pirating right there.

@@Rokaize Nothing wrong with Steel Beasts, but nothing wrong with more variety either! I do think GHPC also does appeal a little more to the more casual audience. I've played both, and enjoyed both, but GHPC was definitely easier to pick up for me. Both did a great job of making me think "Good lord, they made shooting things so easy in an Abrams even I can do it..."

gotta say im very sad to see that most modders just decide to add whatever rather than sticking to historically accurate designs. like replacing the bmp machine gun with an ags, giving the bmp2 missile overfly top attack capeabilities and so on.

That's impressing. I read in steam's discussion that ERA block mechanism is in the code and some mods have that. I didn't expect it's real. Must download and play now.

Btw, the Increased Pact Lethality mod now allows you to select 3BM26 and one other special APFSDS round for the T-72s. ERA can also be applied to both T-72s. I'm keeping that other round a secret because it seems the mod maker wants it like that. I'll give you a hint though: you can find out what this round is by examining the source code for the mod.

@@fabian3705 You need to find the MelonPreferences cfg file in your GHPC installation folder. Search function is highly recommended. Also, the "secret round" is actually 3BM42. The mod-author made the name of this round public so I feel comfortable in revealing what it is now.

Just 1 question regarding the T72B ERA, is it supposed to be so "though"?Looks like with ERA added especially on the side you are gonna need to put down 20+ shells into the tank before you take it down,seems a bit unrealistic or am I just uneducated? Edit 1:Also lovely to see the M84's since they were seen a lot in combat in my country Bosnia about 30 years ago,will definitely check it out.

ERA can stop HEAT and certain ATGMs. The video I showed is a hypothetical situation where you're using HEAT rounds against the T-72B. Typically, you wouldn't since AP is very effective against ERA or tanks in general. I hope this helps!

Era(reactive armor) is the answer to HEAT charges, Tandem HEAT charges is the answer to reactive armor

While the kontact 1 very much helps its only limitation is that it only works against heat and not things like sabot rounds the t72s FCS Intel the b3 is still very outdated compared to the late NATO MBT'S and the more advanced Soviets MBT'S like the T-80B and T-64B Even the T72Bs uses the same FCS as the t72s in-game use with the only difference being a lead calculator that tells you the amount of lead you need to apply

the B3 has a modern FCS and thermals, which is the biggest reason for it being different from the obr.1989 model

Nope. The modding community is very green. T-80 is also coming later as part of the Soviets.

@@PhanPhantasy T-80B not T-80 It's a small mistake but the original model of any of the Soviet MBT'S has no letters example the original model t72 is just called T-72 and same thing with the T-80

after seeing this i decided to download the t72b mod and m1a1 mod, but i cant get the t72 mod to work for the life of me, also i cant figure out how to edit the abrams mod like what is says on the mod page

I'll assume you have melonloader on. Do you have other mods installed? There are two M1A1 mods. For M1A1 AMP make sure to only use that. And when you load the mods, you can check on the cmd prompt if the mods are loaded, do you see the T-72B loaded?

@@PhanPhantasy i do have melonloader and I only have the m1a1 amp, and in the prompt it does say the t72b mod is loaded but ingame its still the t72m1 with the same rounds

@@sharkk127 You probably didn't download the assets for the Kontakt-1 ERA. Download that as well, unzip the folder and put it in wherever you placed the .dll file for the T-72B mod
