Maggie's daughter is personal friend of mine. Thank you for remembering her. Jo was wondering what exactly led Maggies untimely death. She was correct in saying Magnolia was young. Magnolia passed away from a sudden brain aneurysm, at the young age of 30 years old - (even more tragic. It happened the night she was out celebrating her birthday). Both her son, and daughter are doing well. Maggies daughter has children of her own, as well as now recently, she also became a grandmother, (so Maggie would have been a great grandmother if would have still been with us). I hope she is resting peacefully, right along with her friend Elvis.

Ask Maggie's daughter since she's a friend of yours to ask Robert Gates Jr. ROOTS so... we perhaps all should hear about her ROOTS especially since she had been important to Elvis Presley. I think that should have a great viewing. ROOTS with Robert Gates Jr.

I'm so glad i found EFM. And MMk. I have come to love all of you. I enjoy Jo and Billy's stories about Elvis and all that you wish to share. I don't care what generation you are from, everybody knew who Elvis was. I'm .more of Lisa generation. But we loved Elvis, still listen to his music. We listen to Lisa too. Our parents, grandparents, ect loved Elvis I don't care how young or old you are everybody agrees Elvis was a good looking man and his voice can't be compared. There was one Elvis Presley. No immatators could do him justice. He was born to do what he did. He touched all of us. I don't listen to gossip. I'm thankful to be able to come here and listen to the truth. I love listening to Danny and Teresa. You have a beautiful family.God Bless all of you. You keep Elvis alive through your memories and stories. Thank you, for sharing all your amazing stories. We, ( Elvis Fans) enjoy hearing yours and Jo's stories. I wish, you all a very Merry Christmas 🎄🎁 and a very Happy New Year. I, would love it if you could mention my father for he loved Elvis and was driving semi for J&w transfer. He, took a load to Memphis and took many pics of graceland. He never entered but climbed in a tree to take pics. He bought us 3 kids Elvis T-shirts. I will share. Pic if you like. Anyways, he passed in 2010 of lung cancer and my mom last year. I was diagnosed in 2022 of breast cancer. But , my wish is to have his name mentioned. He so loved Elvis . He grew up very very poor. He too took (stole) fruits and veggies so him and his siblings could eat. His , Birthday is Dec 24, 1944. A home that they lived in he wrote Elvis name on the garage walls I, 8:15 will try in the spring to see if the new owners would allow me to take a pic. Many, Blessings sent for a prosperous New Year for you all. ( Billy, Jo, Danny Theresa, Danielle, Lainey, Joey, Dakota and the entire family including the furry family also

Maggie Smith - I find his friendship with Maggie really fascinating. It seemed like a really paternal relationship. Some more info about their friendship: Elvis Met Maggie at the Sid Carrol Pontiac car dealership in Memphis on Sept 17th 1974, three days before leaving on tour. He was going with Linda at the time (But we all know that doesn’t mean much 😅) According to her story, she was looking at cars with her mom and found one she liked, but Elvis and his guys came in and bought the car she was looking at while she was waiting for the salesman to deal with her. Once she realized the car was now taken she decided to leave, but realized everyone at the dealership was making fuss over this tall handsome man. She didn’t know who he was. She said that she and her mom were the only black people in the dealership and they felt awkward not fussing over him the way everyone else was so she went and asked him for an autograph and left the store. She got into her car and told her mom, I’m going to go ask him for a job. And when she mustered the courage to go back in and ask he was already coming out. So she asked if she could speak to him and he said okay, and she asked him point blank about a job. And he said well can you cook, and she said no. Can you clean? And she said no.well what can you do? She said I don’t know. He said, well you can watch over Lisa then. And told her to stop by Graceland to speak to Vernon to get set up. And the rest is history. I believe it's written that he went over to Maggie's home to speak with her mom directly and let her know that she'll be well taken care of at Graceland and that she need not worry about her daughter. The first day there he took her for a joy-ride in his new Pantera and nearly scared her to death. He loved showing off. And they became fast friends. Like Billy said, she got along well with the guys. She was quiet but she was fun. She was with Elvis the day he bought Mary Jenkins her pink 3-bed, 2-bath home in Whitehaven. She just sat in the corridor between the kitchen and the den answering the phone and studying Biology, which was her major at Lemoyne-Owen College, and HBCU in Memphis. She never had a particular place to be in the house and never really did much of anything. Just whatever Elvis needed or asked of her. Maggie kept Elvis young and jovial. Nurse Cocke told a funny story about how Elvis would tease Maggie about having a “big ol' ass” and would tell her that he could put xyz on it and it wouldn’t fall off. He would tease her about the high heels she wore in the house running up and down the stairs between the kitchen and his bedroom when bringing him meals etc. He’d tell her that she’d fall down the stairs, and one day she did just that. He fell out laughing he nearly busted a gut, while she lay at the bottom of the stairs embarrassed. He said "Fool, I told you you'd fall in 'dem heels" Elvis and Vernon paid her well. They gave her the title of Executive Assistant. I think she even had business cards made to that effect. He wanted her to travel with him to see how shows were run, and how things were done. To train her on how he liked things so that she could predict his needs and potentially take over some aspects of his life when "changes were made". There are records of her paystubs, and she was paid very well. If not better than some of Elvis' guys. Elvis flew her out to Vegas for about 10 days in March 75. And she had to get Elvis' signature so she could be excused from school to go to Vegas with him. He wanted her to experience the world and meet people outside of Memphis. She played the slot machines while there and went to several of Elvis shows. She had to report where she was to Elvis at all times so he could keep an eye on her for her own safety. He wanted to extend the trip, but ultimately she had to get back to Memphis and back to school. They talked A LOT. She was one of the few along with Elvis' close family members like Billy, that he allowed up in his room to just talk about life. They talked about the bible, Elvis would ask her to tell him about school and what she's learning. They would talk about spirituality, reincarnation. He'd ask her to share her opinion on the guys. What she thought of them and their character. Many things. Maggie ended up getting pregnant in her third year of College I believe and she had to tell Elvis. Well, it turns out Elvis noticed that she was putting on a bit of weight in the mid section, and spoke to her privately, when she confirmed that she was indeed pregnant. He was heartbroken, devastated even, because he knew how much it would change the trajectory of her immediate plans for her future. He asked her if she was in love with the guy and what she was going to do. She recounts that she felt like she was telling her daddy who was disappointed in her but still showed love and compassion for her situation. Elvis and Vernon gave her paid Maternity leave and held her job for her return. He would call and check in on her regularly, as would his Aunt, and Mary Jenkins, to see how the pregnancy was progressing before she gave birth. And he would tell her to hurry up and have the baby so she could get back to Graceland. He felt that only she knew how he liked things done and where things were. Elvis died a few weeks after she gave birth to her son. He had predicted that she would have a boy. She wasn't able to go to the funeral as she was in hospital (or had just been released) due to some complications during the birth of her son. Maggie died December 14th 1985 5 days shy of her 31st birthday. Update, according to the posts in the comments, she also had a daughter. :)

What a wonderful story! ❤ I just wish alot of the everyday people that Elvis befriended and helped would've come forward in the immediate year or so after he passed. But then again most of his good deeds were done anonymously. Like the lady he bought the wheelchair for. One of the guys said "she doesn't know who you are" and Elvis said " that's ok, at least she knows somebody cares". ❤ In my 77 years of life, I've never heard of Anyone going through their whole life giving to people in need, even as a child that had almost nothing, but gave or shared what he did have, and Never expected anything in return! Jesus is the only one know of that had a pure heart like that. That's how I Know Elvis was a gift from God!❤I
