I love Legendary Creatures getting a special Initiative Bonus. I always gave my legendary creatures a set Initiative of 30, so they would almost always go first, but a player with enough investment could potentially beat them out. Nothing sucks more than your legendary creature rolling a 2 for initiative and being at the mercy of the entire party before they can even act. If your Lair Actions are going before you, there's an issue.
@backonlazer79123 сағат бұрын
It could still take legendary actions, no? The only time when it can't is if it's surprised (or under some incapacitating effect).
@ManlyPicnics22 сағат бұрын
@backonlazer791 Yeah, but most legendary actions are kinda ass (I cannot fathom the use case for perception checks to the point where Id want to spend a legendary action doing it), and any good ones are either 2 or 3 actions. Meaning, you get maybe 1 good legendary action a round. The damage on any attack LA is just pitiful and would never turn the tide of a fight, in my experience.

9:20 I mean considering it’s a plant mass with bodies inside, it should be a plant, not undead. It’d be like calling that one golem thing that collects bodies on its spikes an undead.

Fungus isn't actually plantlife though, it's a separate thing. Granted, I don't think DND has ever made that distinction so...

The blob seems interesting, but given that they said they wanted even the tarrasque to hesitate fighting it, I'm guessing it's at least CR 25 or 26. Dungeon Dad covered both cyclops in a video a little while back, and it was nice to see the classic cyclops get a glow up, and the oracle make its debut. When I thought of the revenant house, my immediately response was, "So, the Amittyville house." The Simpson's did a parody of it too. It feels less like a revenant possessing the house, but more a gateway to the realm of the dead. When it comes to poltergeists, I was thinking The Shining. Regarding the new owlbear, I think I'm most disappointed in that. Kobold Press added the flight (although it's basically the hadozee glide), as well as the rend and charge ability. I feel like I've seen the screech ability somewhere before as well, but can't recall where from.

Why give OWLbears the ability to screech? Aren't Owls famous for being SILENT, I think a owlbear having an aura of complete SILENCE is much better.

In some ways I think man those are some cool monsters on the other hand I will probably never run them because who plays to that level The second thing is more personal to how I like my games to feel I don't get adding such high numbers to a d20 roll +19 at that point does rolling the dice even matter? Saying this monster "always goes first" is against the spirit of the game but this monster has plus a bazillion to its initiative is fine. It's just weird to me
@theindiefox34720 сағат бұрын
It's a lot easier to get high initiative bonuses in 5.24 than 5.14. Namely with Alert being a background feat for Prof that also gives you initiative swap, then there's all the subclass features that influence it. Additionally if you want to try some high level monster fights I definitely recommend bossfight one shots. I have a Discord Server dedicated to em were I run games for random people I meet on other servers and then snip pictures of the party next to the defeated boss like Trophy Hunting Pictures. Thanks to this (and having weirdly good luck when it comes to DMing for and being a part of long running campaigns) I weirdly have more experience in Tier 3-4 than 1-2.
