The Umbral Dagger being an add-on that the vampire familiar uses with a mundane dagger, seems like a cool opportunity to kit out your vampire familiars with other weapons depending on their style and job. It's easy to imagine one of them with a rapier for example, to slightly boost their danger without jumping to another, significantly deadlier monster.

I imagine it as the VFam coating the weapon in their blood as they invoke their master's name, the crimson blood turning black, indicating to the players these attacks will not be normal and magic weapons are not Guaranteed loot. A Familiar that is unhappy about their enslavement will show sorrow to the party as they *** themselves against their will, while a Familiar loyal and evil might lick the blade, cutting their tongue with a wicked grin just before they launch at their first target...

HAHAHAHA! I always forget that Mimics are immune to Acid! You totally COULD have a symbiotic relationship between a Mimic and a Gelatinous Cube. The Cube keeps the Mimic mobile and the Mimic traps creatures inside the Cube with it. They both get to eat more! 😆

Fuck yeah I'm Totally doing this in my next Dungeon. DM - "As you are engulfed by the gelatinous cube, you are filled with dread as you can not breathe. However, the glimmer of a golden chest within the gelatinous cube catches your eye..." Player - "Ohhh! At least I can get some loot from this thing! Gormak, the Destroyer, attempts to swim over to the chest!" DM - "Good... Good..." Player "Oh no..."

I notice that the revenant has a int of 16 so it should be capable of complex thought and planning. I can see it trapping folk who wander in. Potentially using loved ones as hostages to get others to lure its intended target in or getting information on their location.

Come on haunted Revenant is a two stage encounter. 1. IT'S CHUCKY! 2. Once the doll lures you in it relocates to the building. I would have to look at the wording but doll carrying a doll house if it can suck you into the building. It may not say what size you or it has to be.

I hope people don’t get too caught up on the Haunting Revenant being a house. It can be any object, right? It can be a Statue. A piece of construction machinery. A vehicle of some kind. I’m looking at Christine the haunted car for inspiration. I actually think WotC should’ve made the size variable from huge to gargantuan. More options for haunted stuff.

I'm not so sure about statue, if we look at its Invite ability, which suggests the object has an inside compartment. So unless the statue has an inside, I am not sure it would count. A ship, a car, or anything like that for that manner absolutely tracks.

I was hoping the returned Bloodied condition would be featured more, but so far we haven't seen it even once. Big boss creatures is where it's most needed too to create a bit of a multi-phase encounter, but none of the dragons seem to have it.

I read it as you can attempt to escape the cube with your action every turn. The engulfed creature moving along with the cube is unrelated.

While stable you are poisoned. So when you are healed, you lose the stable condition, and so lose the poisoned condition. That's how I read it.

Gargoyle. The need for an ability to look like other objects goes away because the stealth rules have changed. If the gargoyle rolls a 15+ on its stealth check, it is hidden. Only if the party is states they are looking for it or things hidden do they roll and then they roll against the total rolled by the gargoyle.

Yeah, I'm disappointed by how boring it is. It needs something special. Maybe it could transfer its consciousness into other stone statues, and it would be harder to find a gargoyle if it got away.

They over buffed all classes, gave sorc perma advantage in all spell attacks, everyone has inspiration all the time, on top of that they are nerfing the creatures? Do they want the battles to end before the monsters can even act?

Some attacks that cause infliction still need a saving throw, if the status effect is very powerful, like stunned or paralyzed. But things like grappled, restrained, poisoned to auto succeed on a successful hit is fine, especially if they are short lived duration. I really miss Claw/Claw/Bite attacks on dragons, it just has more flavor than Rend/Rend/Rend. And I really wish they addressed the legendary resistance problem from 5E in the new books.... probably one of the most in demand changes that was needed to evolve the game... but they probably couldn't due to backwards compatibility. For the gelatinus cube they should of upped the creatures CR to 3 instead of lowering its HP and damage. 84 hp and 6d6 damage is just too high for a CR 2 creature however. this Iconic monster doesnt really threaten parties past 4th level that much. What I dont like about the engulf feature. is that the cube can technically move 15ft and into a creatures space 3 times if it saves every time in a single move.

Like players got such a buff and these are barely changed, They keep gaving players, power creep and then just refusing to make stronger or interesting monsters They also have a lack of interesting bonus actions or reactions. Also, they just don't give ranged options to anything bu default. Why do I have to manually add bows to enemies? I do like the haunting Revenant, It should have had zero movement, and be able to just trap people in it I just think the monsters are going to underperform compared to players and you're going to end up having toss more enemies at them, making combat slower

Sorry, Haunting Revenant is just stupid... as is the graveyard one. Wow, hate the lack of False Appearance on the Gargoyle... also really don't like the lack of resistances direction they are going. They do seem to be leaning towards eliminating OA though, something I am toying with eliminating altogether, really speeds up combat.
