Nice to see one of my suggestions from my comment in the of video (the Nightwish one) here! Hope to see the others if you make a sequel. For those curious and not interested in scrolling in the og video for my comment: Thr Philosopher by Death was bandleader's Chuck diss track to former guitarist Paul Masvidal. Tattooed Millionaire by Bruce Dickinson was a diss track to a bunch of 80s hardrock/hair metal singers, mainly Axl Rose for being a doofus and Vince Neil for sleeping with his wife. New York Death Metal legends Pyrexia also made a diss track to Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam called Confrontation. New one: Bumbklaatt by Soulfly, Max Cavalera's diss track to Wagner Lamonier, Sepultura's original singer and guitarist who like Dave Mustain started another influential band, the influential black metal band Sarcofago. Speaking of diss tracks and Dave Mustain, Megadeth also made other diss tracks: Something that Im not is against Dave former bandmates in Metallica and Angry Again is a diss track to Nick Menza for getting drunk while Mustain was trying to be sober. Dam that River by Alice in Chains was guitarist's Jerry Cantrell disstrack to his drummer Sean Kinney after he smashed a table on Jerry head after a fight.

I instantely knew courtney is a target in this list before even playing the video. Courtney wasn't an angel. She was one hell of a narcistic, arrogant, bitchy, moody emotionaly unstable mess. However, looking at her life and childhood, even a a person with a heart of ice would be devestated by how tragic her childhood and teenage years were. And after Kurt died, people needed an explaination and someone to blame for his sudden and tragic death. Courtney was the perfect target. She was an addict with a bad reputation, and the murder theories seem to make sense in her case. So everyone took their frustration on her making her life even more miserable. With all the trauma and pointing fingers, she drowned even more by failing to handle all the pressure confirming the mudrer theories and the hate she received. She is miles away from a saint, but even the mentaly strongest people on earth would eventually crumble if they went through the same sh*t as her.

Nelly denied this at the time this song came out, but she has later gone to admit that it was indeed a diss track towards Fergie. In the same year the song came out, the two actually settled their differences backstage at a concert. Timbaland would diss Scott storch and accuse him of not contributing much when it comes to producing, not sure about the details though. I AM SO GLAD TO SEE THE WRIT THAT WAS LIKE MY FIRST THOUGHT Cool wholesome fun fact! By the time they released that song they were already with a different label, but the previous label tried taking them to court over it, so they called the album Sabotage!

it'd be nice to have context for everything instead of select stuff, only deciding to give context 4 entries in seems odd. good video nonetheless though
@christinathein951Ай бұрын
To be fair, sometimes artists don’t always give context to why they are dissing someone and a lot of times it is speculation by the fans but for ones where context is available straight from the artist that would be nice.

An obscure one that I listen to frequently is Seeing Red by Architects. Its a diss to the haters that always want more than what they get.

Seeing Brand New and Taking Back Sunday on this was crazy. That beef felt (still feels) very niche so it’s just hilarious. I love both those songs but I’m always on John Nolan’s side against predator Lacey.

King of Amarillo by Issues, and I've Told You Once by Woe, Is Me, are about eachother, because their label wanted to ranh in on their beef while everyone involved wanted to move past it

Is it a diss? “I asked you to go to the Green Day concert, you said you never heard of them. How cool is that?!”
@owensmith6215Ай бұрын
I don't read that line as a diss at all. He's just saying he likes how different she is from himself and all his peers who would know who Green Day is. He's digging on her uniqueness, not saying it's cool she doesn't know who Green Day because Green Day suck.
