That's a real cool system. Its nice how you can adjust it and turn it back and fourth. Looks like you wouldn't need alot of pressure or flow to run this!.

Thanks for you comments. Yes it could run on lower pressure and still get the job done. This was only a 10 foot piece of pipe. Very short as in comparison on the bigger installations back in the day with often hundreds of feet long at a time. This was still done with galvanized pipe. Very impressive and efficient at the time. Thanks for watching..

Those look oddly familiar. When I lived in my childhood home, the neighbors had these as sprays in the sides near the house. They had regular popup sprays in the front and FEBCO 1" popups near the back patio which were like the 8265 Buckner(same head) and skinner UR heads near the end of the property (brass popup full circle impacts). Thank you for sharing !

What a great demonstration of how these are built and operate. (Also in my long life I’ve never seen plastic pipe threaded, very cool). Nice one fixing the Moody Union. Great Febco catalog. A complete educational experience in real life. Really well done!

Thank you for the wonderful comments! Along with that, a big thank you Bill for sending the copy of the 1927 Skinner Catalog that I was able to add into this video. It was really a great addition which helped make it complete as possible within my limits of being a videographer. Thanks for watching!!

Nice set up to display the different Skinner sprinklers. I also recently threaded a 1-1/2" PVC fitting to make it into a bushing for a sprinkler, the PVC did thread very well.

Thank you for your comments and for watching. Yes you can thread various PVC items and it sometimes could be tricky. Care was sometimes needed as to not to tear the threads…..

I have never seen this before so I find your video very interesting. I do not know what to say, this seems like a precursor to the oscillating sprinkler design. The moody device is quite handy and convenient. Thank you for going through so much trouble to putting it all together.

Thank you for your comments. Back in the day, Charles Skinner invented the automatic oscillator to put on the skinner piping to do the movement. It was very effective in the day and yes, I do believe that it was the precursor to the modern oscillator sprinkler that you can still get today to put on your garden hose. This was a fun little project that I thought it was worth doing.

A warm greeting from Germany. Videos showing how to do it are great. In Germany, there was a company called Hydor (around 1925) that manufactured a sprinkler consisting of a pipe with nozzles that was moved by a hydraulic piston. This company was bought by Heinrich Perrot and later marketed this device as PERROT HYDOR Landregenapparat. For me, it's always exciting: who was inspired by whom? Did Hydor copy this Skinner sprinkler, or vice versa? I can supply pictures and brochures. Bill has the e-mail address.

Thank you for the warm greetings from Germany! Here is warm greetings right back to you from the west coast of the USA, the Los Angeles area in particular. You also have a wonderful history of irrigation which I find very interesting indeed…. I do not know who was first with this kind of system or who copied who. Of all the information that I could find on Charles Skinner was he had developed this type of system in the late 1890’s. His primary purpose was to find an easier way to irrigate his farm that he had. Yes I would be very interested in the pictures and brochures and will contact Bill. Thank you for the great comments and for watching!…
