Hi , i really admire the workmanship , time and thought that you have put into this wonderfully amazingly big train layout . This is truly a labour of love , and i really do not think you could do it any other way . Absolutly amazing to look at . Credit were it is due . Many thanks 😊

Wow Fiona, thank you for your lovely, kind comment, that’s really appreciated. I’m so pleased that you find this layout of mine to your liking. As you can gather, I do like to have a few little surprises dotted around the layout to give a bit more interest which I think is important, plus it gives areas of talking points too. And you are quite right, it is a labour of love as I gradually work my way around it and it gives me an immense sense of enjoyment when I start seeing a scene come together. Once again Fiona, thank you! 👍🏻👍🏻. Cheers. …………Graham

Dear Greham, fine development on the yard, excellent move to put the oiltanks in the back close to the fuelstation, group it with the coaling, give up the curved track behind the sheds, which would only end up with locos being parked out of sight. Thanks for the HSTs running and showing your beautiful layout again from it's best, everything moving, including your brilliant implementation of the trucks running. That gives the filmscene so much additional agility. Good job on the guy in the manhole (even though I don't want to have been drilled up my spine to have a headlamp being glued inside my head 😉) and the tripod will even more complete this lovely microscene. Thanks for having us as your guests again on easter, Albrecht.
@GrahamFoulston8 ай бұрын
Hi Albrecht and thank you for the kind comment, it’s as always, greatly appreciated. I like to have a bit of movement on the layout apart from trains running, like the cyclist in the village, vehicles on the high street and of course the working lift on the platform, I think it just adds a little bit more interest to the layout. The same can be said in the heritage yard which is why I wanted to have the man in the hole in the ground, just to give a little more interest and a talking point. 👍🏻. Cheers. ………..Graham

A good video here Graham, more great progress on the heritage yard and an excellent running session with your HSTs, I have a fair few HSTs in my collection but they are mainly the old hornby and Lima ones, when it comes to the premium ones from hornby currently I only have one pack of HST power cars but those ones have the buffers fitted on the front, hopefully that will change soon though when hornby release their GNER ones that they have part of the 2024 range, I do intend to pick those up as I have a rake of mk3s in the GNER livery, great video and running session overall, keep up the good work.
@GrahamFoulston8 ай бұрын
Hi David and thanks for the comment and I’m pleased that you enjoyed the running session. All those HST’s run with a central motor and two powered bogies so none with the old ringfield motors they used to have and all are DCC ready too, I have fitted sound into most of them but I didn’t have the sound on today as I just thought it would be too much with the noice of four going round at the same time, I could see that could quite annoying for folk watching the video so the sound was turned off. The two Grand Centrals and yellow flying banana have buffers fitted to them but the newer ones aren’t fitted with buffers which I think suits it better, makes it a bit more streamlined to look at I think. I do like the GNER dark green livery, to me it looks a very classy colour and an HST set in that would look beautiful. 👍🏻. Cheers. ……….. Graham

Hi Graham, oh interesting things happening with the Big Boy, that should be amazing when it's finished. So the Heritage Yard is looking very nice, that's a really great area now. As for HST's well they served the railway faultlessly for so many years, I'm not sure any modern train will quite match them. My local main line is the Midland, so nice to see you had a Midland Mainline HST too, and in the best colours too, the purple they use today is horrid, just my view, so thanks for that one.............Although I don't think any livery quite matches the old BR Intercity Swallow colours.............now that was a quality design effort. Anyway, thanks for the video, all the very best Dave.

I see the gardens of the cottages near the railway are neat and tidy, and Bert Tilsey will be sowing some lettuce seeds, along with some spring onions, and radishes, and a few mixed herbs. I dare say he will be popping down to Lakeside Garden Centre to get some John Inis Compost to help bring them along. But as the daylight hours are getting a bit longer, it will also mean more work on the allotment.
@GrahamFoulston8 ай бұрын
I just love your imagination and you are thinking the same as me when I created these gardens, now that Spring is here then folk are spending more time in their gardens, going to garden centres and buying plants and seeds to replenish what was already there. This is all true apart from the one person who doesn’t care too much about his garden but does have two cars in his back garden which he is gradually ‘doing up’ - there’s always one isn’t there? 😉. Cheers. ………….Graham

Looking very good. Was the Network Rail HST also called "Banana"? I have 3 sets of the original livery HST's, which were also nicknamed Flying Bananas. Correct me if I am wrong!
@GrahamFoulston8 ай бұрын
Hi mate and yes indeed, the yellow Network Rail inspection train was called the ‘Flying Banana’. It took me quite sometime to get all this together and modify one of the coaches to have a pantograph incorporated into the roof, I also fitted four inspection lights to the well of the pantograph as per the original and also white and green LED’s to the underside of one of the coaches to inspect and photograph the rails as it went along. Hope that helps. Cheers. ………….Graham

Oh the @#$% words I have for you and your Big Boy coming wouldn't be allowed and the reason is when I was a little one I got an American Flyer engine ( sadly I can't remember at this stage of life I do have a photo with Dad ) that started me off on the love of trains and it SMOKED/STEAMED that I can STILL smell ( and love ) and wish I could go back to my youth but that only happens in SciFi..... As for your Gentry and the damp air, what are you doing to do when it rains ( like MOST of English weather ) keep it your garage and never drive it ???? Honestly, I hope the weather clears up and STAYS clear until the engine is running 100% and then I can imagine ( hopefully have a photo ) of you and lovely Hazel touring down those lovely Yorkshire lanes... I shall say bye for now as there is a BIG PUDDLE on the floor with my drool for ALL your loves, the Big Boy, the Gentry and Hazel ( not in THAT order either )... Oh how can I even forgot your lovely four legged friend ( shame on ME )...... Have a lovely Easter and weather to come soon...... Regards, Warren
@GrahamFoulston8 ай бұрын
Hi Warren, when the Big Boy comes back then hopefully you will be able to relive your youth once again when you see it puffing it’s steam out! 👍🏻. I won’t work on the Gentry all the time there is damp in the air, I’m not going to spend my time have to clean up the surface rust on any bare metal parts - and that includes any internals of the engine. Once it’s built and running then it shouldn’t be a problem but all the time it’s in a pre-built stage then I need to take care and look after it. I intend to get the engine running this year if I can but this is a long term build so it will be a good couple of years before it’s on the road. Cheers. ……….Graham
