Late video today for us today but we still manage to update you on our workshop and the engines we’ve got going on. This Cosworth engine will be something special with more power to weight than a Bugatti Veyron

I fitted the turbosport dry sump to mine. My advice ,before you fit the sump pan,tap the corner holes out to 8mm in the pan itself, reason being , if you have to remove the sump ,when you've removed all the m6 bolts it was impossible to pull the sump off, due to the gasket compound. So to futre proof, if a few holes are taped out , you can wind in an 8mm bolt to push the sump off.,without tapping it off. In my case, the sump is not the best quality aluminium and was very soft/thin, so the slightest tap or push or pull cracked the aluminium, tis very delicate. Also , do not use the aluminium spacer bolt it comes with, you'll know what i mean when you see it.Use your own steel one. You'll also need different pulleys, The standard twin belt won't fit, hits the aux pulley . I ended up having to buy their toothed pulley set. Then this caused another slight issue, it wasn't turning the standard alternator quick enough on idle, therefore charging light didn't go out, ended up buying a brise alternater. But i got there in the end, and happy with it. If anyone wants pics, i can post on my youtube.

Isaac: "That head thing goes on top" I really can't tell if he was being sarcastic or not, but his timing was spot on!

how did you get on with the mini flywheel ... if its still stuck i have seen some vids were you heat it up under tension then put a hose pipe on it to shock cool the part and it comes off

The K series issue with the liners moving when the engine is turned with the head off is not a new problem! Standard Triumph engines from the Vanguard family are the same! Thankfully, most engines are now over sixty years old and rings worn so they don`t tend to drag the liners up with them!

At last a positive post and one that's not full of negativity via court cases etc.

like the channel, its like dropping in to see what the neighbors are up to. Just a suggestion maybe do a video on what makes the Cosworths so special.

Guys, I noticed the floor is beginning to collect a few bins with parts inside. I can't imagine how difficult it is to keep it all sorted and stored, all of time. You might want to take another stab at keeping the floor clutter to a minimum. Easy to slip back into old habits. Thanks for the update. As Isaac mentioned, I too would like to see the complete install of a dry sump including the oil reservoir too. Anything you can show us would be appreciated. Take care. I hope all is well with your families and friends! Alan from NC, USA

Lee the uprated head gasket kit I youse to fit on these engines came with metal gasket and dowels and it was like a thermo glue coated gasket aswell that done the water and oil sealing on these engines! Big difference these made and to be honest never had a problem with them resolved old head gasket problems

Re K-Series Lee. In 1989 the first K's had steel hollow dowels (1.1+1.4's). No HGF. BMW introduced nylon dowels on K and TD5 for some reason....can't imagine what that was... anyway, steel dowels yes, did Rover power train want to fit them, no. Draw from that what you need to, but no, it was not their wisdom - try Munich.

It's good to see a proper job someone using spanner and ratchet rather than air tools on everything

I've still got a set of spacers to hold the K-series liners in place with the head bolts - used for when you're washing the mayo out of the head! 😅

That Merc engine is one reason when I used to build engines, when I stripped them I would put all nuts an bolts in zip lock bags labelled with what they were for/from so if for whatever reason I couldn’t be in work someoelse would have half a chance of reassembling it

Have you ever had a BDA engine from the classic escorts or even old lotus twin cam engines? The place looks so much better with the engines all in a neat row.

You should call the business The Cossie Posse , or maybe 'Scort Sport. But I like the first one better , maybe it could be a byline for the business lol 😃🤔

At the rate the cost of parts for the Cossies are rising you'll need to hire armored cars to deliver them.

oh dear, propagating the k series myths, it's a lot more complicated than "they had plastic dowels" ,some did some didn't, and the liners , some were full wet, some were damp, depends on the engine size and year as rover didn't want to pay for a new block to accommodate larger bores
