As long as there is already a time limit between games, the player is inclined to do whatever they please in those 60-ish seconds. If it can happen in between rounds in combat sports then the FGC should be able to handle it. Though I do feel that only one designated person should be allowed to provide advice throughout the entire day.

Saying Boxing or MMA is not a mental sport is an inncorect statement. Both those sports rely on reading your opponent, playing mind games, remaining calm under pressure, and executing a game plan. I see nothing wrong with coaching but i do think that the time limit NEEDS to be enforced. Players should start calling officials on each other for taking to long and offenders need to be warned for a 1st offense and then round losses for a repeat.

You say the winner shouldn't get to be coached. But what if the opponent switches character for the next match and the winner's coach has some advice to give with regards to the new pick? Should that winner lose that game and then their coach can come in? And the same conundrum will happen in case the loser decides to pick another character as well. I don't think that rule is enforceable. Strict time limit and ensuring the coach does what they say they'll do are the only way to make sure it doesn't go out of hand IMHO.

I believe this should be well identified on what needs to be done when 2 players finish a match of having a downtime for the losing player selecting a character... Will they allow other people on stage other than the authorized or designated personnel maintaining the event and equipments or devices being used? Does it make a real difference or double standards since these players presumably prepared for these tournaments and lab all characters to be more competitive? I think coaching should just be a passive approach to this game and not the hands on deck type like what we see right now... I think momentum wise, they should consider this as a bad thing to that player having the upper hand because yes it's a mentality and psychological mode too with such disruptions in the game. The game of Tekken is like a Tennis match were the strong willed could overcome adversities...

It really should be banned. Coaching just drags the pace of the tourney overall, and gives the player sort of cheat knowledge that they shouldn't be given. And this is completely different from something like MMA (UFC), where a person's own life/health is on the line. Not to mention with every MMA fighter, they always have a coach or a second in their corner, which isn't the case for the fighting games tourneys. While some may say it can be regulated, I'm not really a fan of that aspect either. If it's done through regulation, where does it end? There will always be those who try to find loopholes, with 30 second coaching trying to extend it to 32 seconds or 35 seconds, shrugging saying it's 5 seconds difference. I'd say keep it consistent and just ban it in all tournaments, so these matches go through fast without delays; and each player just dealing with it based on their own knowledge of matchups.

The arguments against coaching is kinda stupid. And stop comparing chess and fighting games, they’re not the same. The difference is chess is solely a mind game and you don’t need to use anything other than your brain. A game of chess is not a battle of the physique of the players. You could still compete if you’re blind, or in a wheel chair, or don’t have arms because those are irrelevant to the game. Tekken however like many other sports is not exclusively a mind game. You still need to execute those actions with your body, i.e. your arms, hands and fingers. It doesn’t matter how good your mind game is if you can’t execute them. Chess is a battle of the mind and strategy, Tekken is not. Chess doesn’t need you to react in a quarter of a second to your opponent’s move, other than Blitz Chess, but even then the moves in Blitz Chess are already calculated before the moves are made anyway, so it’s not really reacting. Chess doesn’t have a rock-paper-scissor. So why compare Tekken to Chess when every other sport on earth allow coaching?

the chess comparison is shit tbh because chess is a 1v1 strategy game based on the idea of "war" tactics with multiple pieces at play giving a plethora of options to win or lose, also there are 2v2 chess competitions that are still gauged on who is the best duo. So understand a coach and fighter are a duo so regardless of a combat sport or fighting game the question is.. who are the best to perform? in giving advice and executing or not executing said advice cause a fucking fight game is not anything like chess there's less time to think there is no back and forward pauses within turns to analyze your opponent to act defensively/offensively cause being stagnant in a fight is detrimental not to say it doesn't exist in chess but its not comparable and you saying that you can condition your opponent and do whatever in traditional combat sport is fucking hilarious cause that's a rarity in fights it happens a good amount to see in the hundreds of thousands of fighting highlights(keyword), but its not the status quo.

Are tournaments going to provide coaches to every player? Because not everyone who plays is sponsored and has someone on the side to correct mistakes. Fighting games can be at least perfectly balanced in real life.

Combat sports are a chess game aswell. If you knew anything about them you would understand that. Fighting games mirror combat sports. Why do you think Tekken is like "playing chess" Because Combat sports are aswell. The conditioning example makes no sense because you condition in both. And he left out the latter comment.

@@AlexPereirasLeftFoot hahahaha, I was talking in relation to coaching, fighting with your body and hearing your coach during and between rounds isn't the same as someone who'd coach a chess or Tekken player in between games. Tekken coaching is just stalling and wasting time. If the player don't know the match-up then that's his problem. It also discourage lone wolves joining the competition. "Why should I join? He got a team, I'm alone so I'm totally fucked up when it comes to strategy."

Coaching needs to be abolished. It only benefits the pro players. Think about, when Arslan Ash loses, he gets another top player to coach him. What if you are a nobody who just managed to beat Arslan Ash? Who is going to coach you? It is not a fair practice because coaches have varying levels of expertise in Tekken.

There's nothing wrong with coaching at all imo. Tbh, for me personally with my profession in the security industry, no one should be randomly coming up on stage, i cringe everytime i hear a commentator ask, "Who's that on the stage? Oh, that is one of his/her boys. " Imo this needs to be looked at carefully on this part tbh. Why not use head set communication devices? This really isn't that big of a problem that can be fixed simply.

Tekken is a one-on-one game, so I don't see the point in anyone giving suggestions during a fight. And if someone needs support and motivation, they can get it before the fight. Tekken is not a sport, so there is no need for coaches. And no, there is no point in adding further provisions to the regulations. Personally, I don't care, but I definitely believe that these types of people should not be present during a fight.
