Gas will not "eat teflon tape". The reason it is is not recommended to use teflon tape with fuel lines or any hydraulics with tapered threads (not flare type fittings) is because pieces of the tape can tear off and get into the fluid causing clogs or blockage. Teflon paste or other fuel proof paste type sealants are safer. As long as you are careful with the tape, it's perfectly fine. PTFE braided hoses are commonly used for fuel line as well as hydraulics like PS fluid and trans fluid.

Did you block the flow at the deck. Two big holes on the top side back of block ? That's what's supposed to force the water flow up and around the head and out the intake passages you put in. You'll also see coolant lines from timing cover to the bottom of the block on some oval engines
@SimpsonsSpeedShop
@SimpsonsSpeedShop Жыл бұрын
I don’t know if it’s blocked at the back honestly. There is water in the heads there tho and it flow thru my new hoses and out so I’m assured of that

@@SimpsonsSpeedShop I know some of the oval track guys because thats what do but haven't done that mod yet. Just got cometic to make them gaskets with that hole blocked. They'll be some flow there for sure idk 🤷‍♂️ if it will help or not. Its a mod to change the direction of water flow through the engine. They found the water just goes straight to the back up the heads and straight forward to the exit at front of intake in factory configuration. The serious oval effort dodges came up with a total package to make the cooling system much more efficient. Forcing the water to flow front to back bottom to top . Just asking because I've seen it alot with the oiling mods too guys only do half the job and then say it doesn't help 😆. Stuck exhaust valves due to lack of cooling has been the theory and problem for some too. Oval track engines take a beating. Wasn't uncommon to see a blown up chevy a day before good cheap aftermarket parts were allowed in the stock type classes. Lol

@@SimpsonsSpeedShop for the critics also remember that oval engines are never below 3500 for 15 minutes plus unless it's a caution or in the pits. I come off the corner around 5000 in my cars. Overheating is a huge problem I know guys who aren't concerned at all at 240 degrees operating temp 🙄 hope it helps cooler engine is a happier longer living engine in most circumstances 😀

@@SimpsonsSpeedShop thanks for getting back to me in such a short time !! Your one of the good guys !!! I wish I could come up with some suggestions to help you improve your car in some areas but you seem to have them all pretty much covered !! I know you want to keep it as much factory and streetable as you can so that leaves all my ideas out !! Have you made a decision on your carburetor yet ??? When I raced I had a 750 stage 3 carb from BG that flowed 1040 CFM @ the top end ! Gave me great consistent 60 ft times and plenty of throttle to the traps !! The drawback 800$ 15 years ago rather salty but it did work !!! The plugs were perfect after shutting the car off down the shut down and pulled a couple plugs at the end of return road !! That was a 406 with 13.2 to 1 compression !!!! That smaller cfm gave it great snap off the line but I never compromised the mid range or top end with fuel !!! Everybody told me I needed a 950 my engine builder said if the plugs read true don't touch it !!! My 60 fts were consistently 1.42 to 1.40 all day and mph was always mid 142 range !!! Just some FYI from my past and how I miss it !!!! Can't wait to see that car on a bigger track !!! Would love to see your car truckin 122 + mph(1/4 mile) !!! Have a good winter with your babies !!!!! If you keep the thermostat and crossover from the intake to water pump could you put the temp sensor in the smaller plugged hole on the water pump? Is it the correct size? I like this modification but my car will be mostly street, thanks.

Bro.. If you wanna knock temp outta the system and make more torque, go E85 if you can. On a 100° Southern California day I can cruise my big block car with 4.10 gears, 3,500 stall and a reverse manual valve body and never crack 170° on my temp gauge. Pretty crazy. I used to have to avoid any type of idling on hot days to keep it under 200°. Not any more, pretty stoked on how the E85 has helped with my temp issues.

@PredaFran
@PredaFran 2 жыл бұрын
it's not how physics work and it's not related to coolant temp or the fan it's about the fact that the pressure after the thermostat needs to be higher to prevent localized boiling, it raises the boiling temp of the coolant inside the block. Water pumps add around 40 psi more to the water pressure on top of the pressure already provided by the thermostat. It's also why the rad inlet hose is almost always smaller than the outlet hose even tho water expands a lot after heating up. People don't put restrictors in an engine because the water flows too fast. That's just a wives tail, a myth. Our water pumps will cavitate long before we get there . Almost all the forms of high level motorsports you find out there will have thermostats or at least a restrictor plate, circle track, time attack, nascar, formula drift, etc
