1:45 Lavoie has a really unique release. His wrist isn't very cuffed. He loads up right at the bottom of his swing.

There's a lot of great stuff to watch beyond the releases. Finish position, ball motions, and what type of pocket hits carry the 10 more consistently.

i was always told to keep the arm straight (elbow locked) when throwing. interesting to see some of the higher rev rate bowlers break the elbow and snap is straight on release. tommy jones, amleto, etc.
@jysl25066 жыл бұрын
a They do that to create more revolutions on the ball. The more under the ball your hand is, the more revs you get.
@smoothjazzonthewav5 жыл бұрын
That's exactly what Brian Voss teaches in his book "Bare Bones Bowling," i.e., having the arm slightly bent in the downswing then "popping" it at release for the reason you cite. Brian was never a power bowler. Very smooth and deliberate, and these days he needs every edge he can get with today's power players.
@ryanshaffer78945 ай бұрын
It happens naturally if you keep your arm in a straight swing plane. Monacelli over emphasizes it. Pete Weber is a good example too, you can also see especially well in these two guys form how keeping your arm in a straight swing plane also keeps all the weight on the index finger throughout the entire swing as long as you're holding the ball right with a spread index finger and you're dropping your shoulder at the correct time to get under the ball. wink wink :)

Thanks, now I finally know why I leave the 10 sometimes. When I hit to far right, my ballspeed is to slow to get that bounceback auf the 6. So I have to move in further so the 3 pushes the 6 into the 10 directly.

We need more bowlers like them. It's sad watching the finals and seeing half the field with fat stomachs.
@nickmeecha51928 жыл бұрын
But to be quite honest, what does a bit of a gut have to do with bowling? Bowling's one of the few sports that doesn't require you to be in peak physical condition to participate and perform well in. No judgement necessary here.
@nickmeecha51928 жыл бұрын
+MISSY “Cleopatra Jones” HART Not really, I'm just stating what everyone knows. Personally I don't see any reason to ridicule PROFESSIONAL athletes, who get paid more than you probably ever will, based on the way they look. Wes Mallott may weigh upwards of 300 lbs or more, but I can promise you he's a damn better bowler than you can ever dream of being.
@TrashBulldogProductions8 жыл бұрын
+MISSY “Cleopatra Jones” HART You referencing players such as Malott, Williams, and DeVaney? Well look at Mallot, the bigger you are the more power you get. He puts a boatload of revs on that ball. This is similar to football in which the bigger and stronger you are, the more of an advantage you have.

+2hands Bowling Junky I think he polished it, Tommy has been playing with that Paradox for a while. Watch the Weber Cup (European Bowling channel here in youtube), he played with it most of the tournament and it did look shiny and it was a couple of weeks ago. There was someone else that also used it, I think it was O'neill.....now O'niell here is using the new Limited Edition Black Widow (US OPEN version + colors)
