My most favorite part of each morning (when it’s not too hot) is sitting outside with my coffee and watching and listening to the birds and squirrels in my backyard. Squirrels and some bigger birds like blue jays love raw peanuts in the shell. You’re doing the right thing by never feeding them people food. I look forward to your next video.

But raw peanuts are not good for them because they can grow mold which can hurt them. I used to buy roasted unsalted peanuts and they loved them.

You need to consider adding a bird bath. Be sure to not get one too deep for the little birds. I personally think water is more important than the food. Critters can always forage for food but a water source is a must.

Jen, let me tell you, my favorite thing to do is to watch all my birds on my patio, I have a bird feeder and suite feeder. Which get from my grocery store. I daily see, my blue bird family, cardinals, finches and pigeons. I also feed a squirrel but let me tell you how furious he can be to get to food. He has eaten through 2 igloo coolers and 2 covered feed buckets to get a the food. Now I just leave a handful of peanuts and seed daily. I try and change to bird water bowl every couple of days to prevent mosquitoes. I love nothing better than watching wild life, helps me to deal with this crazy world. I live in Austin TX. Also I am a patron subscriber. I love you and Jacob.

Jenn, go to Sam’s club and buy their bagged walnuts. Here in Pittsburgh they are about $8 a bag BUT the squirrels love them and they don’t make a mess!! Any crumbs get ate by the birds. You don’t have to give them much.

Cardinals, Chickadees, TuftedTitmouse (many other birds) love black oil sunflower seeds, I have a trail camera, so I do enjoy watching to see what little critters come to other's trail cams too

Hey Jenn! As a suggestion for the little buckets: Maybe get some command strips and stick them to the table or benches? That way, no animal can walk away with or lose your little buckets.

That Raccoon is just a baby, and they are never usually alone, I'm glad it has a safe place to eat, a neat thing g a out raccoons is they dont produce saliva, so if you really want to help it out, maybe you can place a big bowl of water next to the table and they will dunk and wash everything before they eat it, especially in this heat. I'm happy for you getting to embrace feeding the animals, there's always going to be someone who says its not good blahs, blahs, blah, you just do what makes you happy. That raccoon is so cute! Love how it uses its little feet when eating 😅 Very true what your old landlord said though, about the rodents. I noticed mice getting in our house when I was feeding the wild birds and wood ducks seeds everyday. So I had to stop that. I was thinking of a cat to help with mice but we also have Australian native mice, so that's a no no. Another great video jen, as always very entertaining.

Love the trail cam. What type of trail cam do you use My? My parents feed squirrels peanuts in the shell. They will eventually come up to you for them as they trust you. So much fun, a big stress reliever watching the animals. ❤ thank you for sharing.

Jenny Penny Just B kareful Raccoons kan B very mean an territorial animals. They tend 2 take food away from other animals. I wood put a heavy rock on the picnic table so it doesn't tip over , an weigh down the food lails so they don't tip over like that. Thst wood drive me nuts.😊😊❤❤😊😊❤❤

I wish people would quit trash talking wildlife diners. Yes... research each wildlife animal in your area. I've had up to 25 raccoons in my yard at once. I can't tell you how many possums, foxes and deer I've had. I usually spread leftovers, dry Kit N Kaboodle cat food, unsalted peanuts in a shell and cheap cookies out in my yard. Raccoons and possums will eat out of my hand. I've never had a problem with them. I have dogs and cats that know them better than I do. Remain calm and they'll remain calm.

Be careful remember these are wild animals. You should feed them far from your house. You wouldn’t want to attract snakes skunks? I would look up feeding wild animals near your house. I grew up in the country and we were very careful about leaving food out. Love the videos be safe.

A Racoon will eat anything that doesn't bite it first, you need to put out squirrel food in the morning or early afternoon. Your little nighttime bandits won't mind cleaning up the leftovers.🦝 Though you can put out a pie tin with Apples grapes or bananas and they'd be pleased. They don't even mind if it's a little overripe. BTW, I'M fairly certain that one squirrel is mooning you.😅
