Wow! I can't believe how much I got done in such a short period. With the help of Badge for two projects, I tackled a couple by myself.

I love the Nomadic community and the way everyone shares their strengths and knowledge by teaching and helping each other. Now you can add two new skills to your growing list of van building and van knowledge. Badge is a perfect example, I'm sure if you talked to him he would say that helping you out was "no big deal it's just what you do" :) I know you will pay to forward too

Busy, busy, busy! It's always nice to whittle down the project list. I have a little tip for you, Seven, for when you're doing overhead work like your ceiling panels...build a "deadman" to hold up one end of your material. Just think of a tripod type of thing and you'll manage it, you may even be able to utilize your painter's handle for that lightweight work. Maybe you already knew that way of doin' it, maybe not, I've done it many times 'cause I have yet to sprout that third arm that would be so helpful at times. Badge has an incredible amount of knowledge and he's always willing to help people. He seems like a great guy and he's another fella I'd love to meet some day. If more folks were willing to help like him this world would be a whole bunch better off. It's not lookin' as warm as I've seen that area in previous years, kinda makes me glad I'm not there for that. Another good video enjoyed and in the books Seven, thanks! ........................................PEACE!!

Had the same happen many years ago but rubber disintegrated and tiny bits clogged up the filter on the carburetor. Was a real head scratchier as to where the tiny rubber bits came from till we went through all the fuel system and tracked it down to that hose. Great tip for the sink too. All the best

Good call with the Dawn Badge, Dawn 'blue' is often used in environmental disaster's like oil spills , it really works well with wildlife that have come in contact with the oil , plus I think Dawn makes donations if you purchase the blue Dawn, so I support this by always using Dawn 'blue'...take care.

One project that would be fun is to work on rewiring the van's electrical system. Start at the batteries and replace each wire with new ones so you know they are all in good condition and hopefully find the phantom drain in the process. For the book case you would have a better time with a fabric with some stretch you can pull over the front and hook to the side/back to hold the books in in travel. You would be shocked to see how bad the drain pipes are from a kitchen to the main stack as the grease solidifies on the inside of the pipe over time making the inside smaller and smaller resulting in slow draining sinks. The inch and a half galvanized drain at my parents house had a pencil sized path down the center with the rest clogged with grease.
@SevenWanderstheWorld
@SevenWanderstheWorld 5 жыл бұрын
great tips there.I've replaced several areas of wiring and the main bus bar in the hood area as well as some new breakers. some of the wires are new but you are right, replacing them all would be best. unfortunately I don't have the money now for that and am focusing on finishing the build of my living space before tackling things like that ;)
@TheUserid82
@TheUserid82 5 жыл бұрын
@@SevenWanderstheWorld Yep can see wanting to get the construction materials out of the bedroom as a higher priority but it is a simple project as you can use the old wires to pull the replacement wire and a great time to label where each wire leads so years down the road you can ID it without following. Would be good to start looking at the size of the wires used as it can be as cheap as $20 for a 100 foot roll to $100 for a 100 foot roll depending on the size of the wires. There are some other things to look at also like they have silicone covered wires now that stay more flexible then the older plastic/PVC wires that would stiffen over time and crack.

Remember when you left Oregon and I told you I had hidden a couple of items in your van to make you smile? You soon found the Minon plate but never found the second item. If you look at the Tillamook ice cream bucket you will see that Merrill wrote "ICE CREAM, ICE CREAM, ICE CREAM" on the side in permanent marker. If you remember the video you made when we visited the Tillamook factory Merrill was quoted as saying that same thing.

I started off thinking why on earth would you use coroplast? As soon as you said twinkle lights I got on board. That is seriously cool man. Btw the black writing on the insulation seems to show a bit. I bet if you just taped some aluminium foil over the writing it might look better.
@SevenWanderstheWorld

i'm going for a rough industrial look inside my step van (note the industrial lamp covers) and want the writing on the panels to be blurred but visible through the coroplast. I'm hoping as I begin adding more "decor" items that the whole diesel punk look will start coming thru
@UhYeahWhateverDude
@UhYeahWhateverDude 5 жыл бұрын
I hate to be the downer naysayer here, but... those panels will dry-up and deteriorate anywhere they are exposed to the lights and heat. It won’t happen immediately, but over time those areas are going to became extremely brittle, and the first time you touch them they will crumble into tiny pieces. The former resident of my home used those, and they have all fallen apart and and I spent weeks sweeping the prices up until I finally ripped it all out. To be fair, they were about two years old. Again, not trying to be that guy...but it’s the truth :(
