There used to be a strange dead end north of the elf city. The city hadn't been implemented but its walls were there. You could squeeze along a narrow path between the north wall and the the edge-of-the-world blackness. There was no purpose to it and I never saw anyone but me there.

I think my favorite odd places in OSRS are quests & associated areas from pre-2.0/Runescape Classic, that were added and used for only like one or two quests and never updated since. Areas like the digsite, Sinclair mansion, clock tower, relics from a time when the world was small and anything could be just off the edge of the map that are now surrounded and fossilized in place

I used to love hanging out in that area in between Draynor and Lumbridge. It was always my happy place whenever I play RuneScape as a kid. Even after getting membership. The music really sold it for me.

Seeing the Duel Arena brought back some memories... Spent some time doing duels in there myself, but I wasn't any good at it, being so young and not really understanding a whole bunch of stuff. I've been enjoying watching these videos. They remind me of Any Austin's "Unremarkable and Odd Places" series he started doing a few years ago. He hasn't made any entries in that series in a few months, but watching through your Video Game World Tours series is helping to fill that niche. Thanks for your hard work!

As someone that's played OSRS since it came out 11 years ago, it's honestly sad that outsider observers saw it as nothing more than a gambling game. Duel arena was a tumor on the game and I'm glad they excised it

Something funny about the gambling. Jagex started screwing with the streamers at some point, waiting for the perfect moment to ban them live on stream as they got that big victory to rub salt into those wounds. Of course, the point of it was too ban all accounts involved in the gambling, so both sides of the transaction got nuked. You can absolutely find clips on KZbin of streamers absolutely losing it. It's pretty funny.

One place I can think of that fit this type of video are the small clearing of hill giants between the observatory and the Ourania altar. When doing the Observatory quest, you can't actually see the hill giants from the office for the Observatory because they're just outside the NPC render distance from that spot. And even if you DID know that they're there, there's very little reason to fight them there as there's far better places to fight them.

This is a bit of a particular request, but I think this series would be PERFECT to cover LOTRO (Lord of The Rings Online). My absolute favourite MMO to just hang out in the world of!

oh, just thought of a pair of games that it'd be awesome to see you take a look at some day; Phantasy Star Online(in particular Episode 1 and 2 on gamecube) and Monster Hunter Tri> While all of PSO1 has a certain feel, this one in particular remembers clearing out enemies from the VR Ruins stage in Episode 2, in particular VR Ruins 2(the one set during sunset) and staring out over the water, seeing the cosmetic ruins sticking out of the water at odd angles. It was...solemn yet peaceful and calming. There's also the seeming City well below you in the other VR stage. other areas that stand out in this one's mind include all of Forest(the first stage, appropriately) Especially Forest 1, where it's day and sunny. Or Caves 3, it was just such a drastic change from the fire and magma theme of Caves 1 and 2. And of course there's the little bits of Pioneer 2 you could explore; the lobby and the main ship areas for Episode 1 and 2. Don't remember too much of Episode 3 and never played Episode 4(it was a PC exclusive), but there could be something good there too. Heck, even just the beauty shots from the opening FMV look fantastic for a game first released in the year 2000. As for Monster Hunter Tri, never got to the end of the Village Quests even, but the online-only City(Loc Lac) just had this certain vibe, but maybe that's just a desert-city thing this one has. But both the opening island and the Flooded Forest stages jump out in our mind, the former as a well made if generalized first stage composed of sweeping planes and a large mountain, with herds of massive Aptonoth roaming around and grazing. And the Flooded forest just felt...serene in its own way. A dense rainforest, this one remembers going on a free hunt once or twice at in-game night and just climbing to the edge of a cliff and looking out over the expanse of rivers and trees, all the way to the horizon where just a horizontal strip of twilight-orange could still be seen. Would love to see what you think of them.

You probably won't get there yourself for a long while yet, but I think you'll love Prifddinas, the elf city. While the RS3 version is a very gameplay-centric theme park, OSRS' take on Prif is first and foremost a place where people live, with all the game activities tucked away between, under, and above the houses. So there's lots of little corners of the town you might not notice!

Hated underground pass on my UIM but on the main it was comfy as fuck. On the UIM I hate it mostly cause of Seren boss fight. When you die to it you basically have your entire bank held by a random elf and have to do the entire trekk to get your bank, warp out to get a looting bag and put your stuff in it. Then you have to regear (for me it meant diamond necklace plus nitroglyceri npotions but now apparently you can stack nightshade so the boss fight is much easier due to basically being able to bring infinite P necklace back then you hade to bring half p necklace half nitro potions.) Then again when Zeah came out you could just get sara potions from the chest in forthos so you had other alternatvies. Anyways this made undergroup pass very stressful and annoying to get back over and over again to. I always took the tyras port way it was much faster.
