I love these paints. Used them loads. If using the plain grey 9 colour, you can add drops of the ink from the vivia colour sheets. It gives you so many extra shades to use. Can add drawing inks but I only have sepia at the moment. They work just as well as the blue and yellow tubes given. Love watching your videos. It's killing me waiting for the next ScrawlrBox. Keep checking to see if anyone else has theirs yet.

I've always wanted to try a scrawlr box unboxing for my channel! Who else wishes they could buy one?
@Littlewings12114 жыл бұрын
I get my subscription every month. I have to admit they have their pros and cons. If the box contains a medium you love or something completely new then it's fantastic because you either have more of your favourite medium or something like these paints that you may never have heard of. My Mam has been painting with watercolours her whole life pretty much and I am a total newb to painting so I wasn't surprised that I hadn't heard of them but my Mam hadn't either. On the flip side if you get a box with a medium you really don't like or something you already have it can be somewhat disappointing and feel a little like a waste. However, not everyone feels the same way about each box. My bestie and I both compare our thoughts on the boxes every month and some of the stuff I have really enjoyed she hasn't and visa versa (for example there was a box with a set of Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Fineliners, some recycled paper, a little sketchbook that was also recycled, a glue pen and some biodegradable glitter which I absolutely loved but my friend found really boring. She doesn't really draw much so had no use for the fineliners, the brown paper and little notebook were kind of meh to her and she liked the idea of eco-friendly glitter but had no use for it.) The main thing I find a little bit annoying is that in every box there is at least one (usually two) of the following "filler" items: a regular graphite pencil (hardness does vary a little), an eraser and a pencil sharpener. While I understand why they're in there to fill the extra amount of value from the box and also for the Scrawlr challenge where you have to use only the supplies in the box but to me I would rather only get a pencil/sharpener/eraser once every 3 months or something as they begin to feel a bit repetitive and wasteful to be honest - I use my mechanical pencil (as do a lot of artists) so I very rarely use the Scrawlrbox pencils (in fact the first time they were used was yesterday when I was drawing with my niece and nephews and they hadn't brought any stuff with them) - other than that it gets swatched with the rest of the supplies when I get the box and then put in a drawer forever. Overall though I do love my subscription, despite the mixed feelings. If you accept that not every box will be right for you (and have appreciative nieces/nephews/siblings or a local school etc that you can donate your unwanted supplies to) then it is a great thing, and at £15 a month I think it is the best value subscription box for art stuff (I do live in the UK though so free shipping for me, not sure how much it is worldwide). I would definitely recommend giving it a try for a few months and if you like it carry on, if not you can cancel anytime.
@AnotherMADCreation4 жыл бұрын
I always watch all the reviews on KZbin and decide to buy things here and there, rather than pay for a subscription. I got the Sumi watercolors after she reviewed them, for example, and I love them!
@Littlewings12114 жыл бұрын
@@AnotherMADCreation that is definitely one way to avoid getting stuff you may not like but I think that subscription boxes are a benefit to beginner artists who haven't found their specific medium that they love yet, or maybe those who like to push and challenge themselves into using different art supplies or ones that they don't particularly like. For example in the last Kattvalk Scrawlrbox video she showed the charcoal box. I am so similar to her with stuff like that, I love the end results but hate the mess! That Scrawlrbox and the featured artist's work have really made me want to give charcoal/chalk pastels etc another try and that's a medium I would normally avoid like the plague! I do get where you're coming from though. I could never enjoy buying collectibles that come in 'mystery boxes/packs' because I would want the ones I want and would hate getting the others or even worse, duplicates! Yet some people love the mystery aspect of those.
