Not being able to buy a Big Mac is a long way from having your home and family wrecked.
@rainmind

Exactly. Fast food is trash and the rest of companies are luxury imported items that regular people cns leave without. Russians really don't depend as much on those foreign products as US does with Chinese manufacturing. If China imposes the same sanctions to US, then that's a devastating blow, since everything says made in China. The only way to really affect Russians is to bomb Russia, otherwise it's just another economic crisis like tje one in 2008. Crisis, but life keeps going on since no bombs are falling over your head.

I'm gonna be honest. Everyone in modern society depends on something or someone in some way or form. The only true people who depend on themselves are labourers like farmers, harvesters, builders, etc. We as a modern society see labour as outdated and poor, but in conditions like these, they are the people who save everyone.

I get your point and it's a strong statement. But, modern day farmers are also depended on someone or somethings like, electricity, fuel for their equipment, mortgages/loans, staff and technology. alot if not all of these statements can be applied to harvesters and builders. building a house is not done with just hammer and nails in like hundreds of years in modern society. I bet most of the people you mention dont even know how to begin to do their job without all those Quote "dependencies". There is alot more to these professions then most people think! So i think your statement is better applied to a certain way of thinking alot of people lost in this day instead of certain professions.

I personally and the majority of my friends and acquaintances don't buy any products produced by Pepsi and Nestle because they're very harmful to your body. I don't drink any sparkling water either, especially fizzy juices like coke or Fanta because it's like drinking Domestos. I'd never buy any baby food produced by Pepsi or other American companies (or Nestle taking they privatise water sources leaving children in third world countries thirsty and hungry) unless they had Organic and Vegan certification. There are very good Russian companies who can be trusted when I comes to baby food. If I didn't have this option, I'd be buying apples and other fruit and veg and make my own baby foods the same way my mum used to make for me.

It puzzled me back then how and why a western company like this with no clear ideological links to labour or anarchism could achieve influence and expertise to operate in the hostile environment. As a resident of Russia, I confirm that the situation is very different from the one shown. They say the sanctions have been announced by the whole world, but this is not what is actually happening. There are no empty shelves in stores: Russia trades with Asian countries, so goods continue to flow into the country. In the last couple of years a lot of Chinese cars have appeared on the roads. Oil and gas exports are likely to be redirected to China and India. Living standards in Russia will certainly fall, but many see this as the inevitable price to pay for independence from the US and NATO.

Before French used to go for gas (petroleum), cigarettes, beer and else to Germany - price difference. These days looks like it is another traffic: Germany to France. Similar signals from the UK - petroleum prices and so on. Judge for yourself.
