hi, i know you posted this comment a while ago, but i kinda wanted to jump on and reply if i may :D the message of this song is extremely powerful and i believe it is honestly meant for EVERYONE, both for people who have a religous set of beliefs and those who do not (for the record, i believe in The Most High described in the bible.) i think the most powerful thing about this song is the lesson being told in the chorus of the song: You've got to give a little more than you take, You've got to leave a little more than was here, You maybe prideful of the strides you will make, But keep one thing clear, You're just a player in a much bigger plan, And still you have to give it all that you can, The very measure of your soul is at stake, You've got to give a little more than you take, with the first two lines, i think it can be summed up like this: when we come across something, we have a few options on what to do with it -leave it as it was before -leave less than what was there before -leave more than was there before i'll use the example of an apple tree. if you left is as you found it, then you left no impact on it, no indication to the next person that finds the tree that you had found the tree before them. if you take some of the apples to eat, then you are leaving less than what was there before, less people can benefit from what you found before them if you plant the seeds from the apples you eat. you're leaving more than what was there before. if there are more apple trees, that means more fruit to eat for the people who find the trees after you. you can even be setting an example for others by asking those who find the trees after you to plant their seeds too no matter who we are or what we believe, we should be seeking to do the third option. sometimes people don't want to take anything at all because they want to leave it all for someone else (the first option). and there is a time and a place to do that, if we don't need something, we shouldn't be taking it. leave it for someone else who needs it more. but if we do truly need something, we need to take what we need. but if there is there a way to leave something positive after we have taken what we needed, we should do that. and we need to be sure to be humble for the parts we play, not being arrogant and thinking our part was the only important part. this has to do with lines 3-5. sometimes people will make a big deal out of the good things they do just for the sake of boosting their own importance. let me go back to the example i gave before with planting the apple seeds and asking other to do the same. say you planted your seeds and asked others to do the same, and other did follow your example. then you went back after the trees were grown and made a sign saying that you were the one who started the seed planting. but just because you got things started, it doesn't mean that you did everything. the others who planted their seeds had their parts to play as well. no part that was played in an event has any more or less signifigance than the other parts played. each part was important and should be seen as such wow this got long xD sorry for the super long reply, but this was just something that i wanted to say. i hope this comment finds you well :D

I agree. I wish they could have done a full set of stories. Maybe Sampson nd Delilah, Esther, David and his encounter with Goliath.. it would be so cool to see animated dramas of this caliber of the big Bible stories. I write Christin fantasy and would love to see my stories turned into some animated show or something, but it's nothing like The Prince of Egypt and Joseph King of Dreams. Maybe one day we will get this prayer answered! 😭❤️

As much as this film isn’t as epic or as cinematic as it’s predecessor; The Prince of Egypt. This prequel is still a masterpiece of its own. Joseph’s story always sticks with me. An important message that God always rewards those who continue to live with compassion in their hearts and always trust what he has laid out for you. Today, not many have experienced the pain of his heartbreak and trials. Betrayed by his brothers who sold him into slavery out of envy. Thrown into prison because his master’s wife falsely accused him of raping her when he refused to give into her advances. Learned that his mother died heartbroken while he was away. But through all that, he kept his compassion, obeyed his masters faithfully, trusted God as he endured his time as a slave and as a prisoner. But God never abandoned him, God rewarded his obedience, patience, and trust with a respected position in Egypt. A loving woman to be his wife, and the opportunity to forgive his brothers and reunite his family.

dastemplar9681 Agreed. The part I find meaningful is how Joseph’s life demonstrates that God ordains both good and evil things to happen to us, but we can trust that his holy purpose is fulfilled. Like Joseph said to his brothers after their dramatic reunion: you meant it for evil, but God meant it for good. God is in control of all circumstances. Everyone to whom God gives faith can be at peace even through the most evil circumstances, because God works out all things for the good of his people, for those called according to His purpose. Man plans his path, but God directs his steps.
