3:32 In 1985, all three leading actresses were nominated for their roles as country women. Jessica has said that she felt that her and Sissey Spacey's films had a better message and content than Sally Fields's. So you can see that she would have been happy when Robert introduced Sissey Spacek, I think she would have been happy and convinced if Sissey had won that night. And in May 2024, she said that Geraldine Page and Kim Stanley were two actresses who influenced her acting, she learned acting from them so she easily said Geraldine Page's name when the introducer said "the greatest actress in English movies". Anyway, I think you should add the part where Jessica Lange lost the Oscar to Jessica Tandy in 1990 instead of this one. Because she freaked out for a second when Gregory Peck said "Oscar goes to Jessica...", which was funny! lol

Sidney Poitier made history by being the first black actor to win the Oscar and Anne’s warm embrace to Sidney was controversial at the time. Seeing a white women exchanging polite kisses on the cheek to a black and her showing genuine happiness for him caused an outrage during the 1960’s Civil Rights Era! Anne Bancroft did not care about the controversy and she was in the right side of history and that moment is forever captured on film!

It’s monday morning quarterbacking by the academy when they realize they had good opportunities to award the actor or actress in the past and overlooked doing so. @christiand41043 ай бұрын
Love this. You really know your Oscars. The Sylvester Stallone is my favorite. I came across that clip years ago, and thought it was hilarious. He's clearly blown away that they gave it to Finch, and seemingly surprised that he didn't win. Kind of egotistical, if so, being that he was literally the new kid on the block. I wanted to draw attention to a loser reaction that doesn't really qualify, as it happens before the winner is announced, although the same actor does give a memorable reaction afterwards, too. To me, it's one of the funniest reactions, ever, and I've NEVER come across any mention of it, which tells me that almost no one noticed. It's for Best Supporting Actress 1992 , one of the biggest upsets, all time, to the point of ensuing "conspiracy theories", as you well should know. Before the winner is announced, Jack Palance tells that terrific joke about how this is the first time in Academy history that FIVE foreign actresses were nominated in the same category, "Four from England, and one from Brooklyn". Truly funny, though it has one problem, and if you pay attention to Judy Davis (who was, as I recall, the odds-on favorite to win), she points out the flaw. You can clearly see her say "I'm not British", and then sort of laugh and shrug it off, because, yeah, she's Australian. Then, when Marisa Tomei is announced as the winner, she also gives a very notable shocked reaction, not ungracious, like Stallone, just shocked, which is a great stand-in for everyone's surprise. Anyway, it's so great, and the irony is delicious, again, because it's such a great joke that turns out to be wholly innacurate.

Stallone didn’t expect to win at all, he’s said so in various interviews due to him being a complete nobody in the industry until Rocky, so with that success he had, it was unexpected, just like the multiple Academy Award nominations the film got, especially when the film won Best Editing, Best Director and especially Best Picture. It could have been he expected someone like Robert De Niro to win, so when Peter Finch was announced as the winner, he was surprised to hear Finch’s name instead. Also, Russell Crowe never punched anyone at BAFTA, he went to who was in charge of that years ceremony, trashed the place and yelled at the guy for cutting his speech off.
