1. Madonna can say anything she wants, and in the way she wants it. She was obviously ahead of her time, and knew we were gonna get tired of listening to "My Heart Will Go On" in the airwaves over and over and over again. Celine Dion has much better songs than that one (which, is not a bad song), but, of course, "My Heart Will Go On" was shoved down our ears as a marketing maneuver. 2. Meryl Streep does open the envelope. When she hugs Daniel Day-Lewis as he walks up to the center of the stage, you can clearly see the card, and she's holding both the card and the envelope with one hand. 3. You forget that when Joaquin Phoenix presented that Oscar, it was 2021, and we were in the MIDDLE OF A PANDEMIC! No one wanted to be there, there was no vaccine yet, and people were wary of each other. 4. Many of the moments you're criticizing involves elderly actors presenting awards. You say "Warren Beaty should've said this...", but you forget, not only is that moment really awkward, but Warren's thought processing is probably not the same as it was 10, 20, or 30 years ago. It's not only a big deal for them to be standing up in front of Hollywood's best, but it is also a huge effort they're physically and mentally making to be there. It doesn't take away the fact that it was a bad moment, but, don't expect elderly people to say what you're thinking.

Secondly, the whole having "Best Actor" last was bullshit. This was a week after Black Lives Matters was in the news. 1) of the 100+ years of the oscars every presentor does that. They make silly jokes, and move on. Some are even worse. Jada's a tip of the iceberg. 2) will smith fucking laughed at the joke. He fucking laughed at the joke. What kind of sick demented individual, laughs at the jokes about his wife, then when he saw his wife visibly upset, he then started assaulting a comedian, who was there to do his fucking job.

When Denzel Washington won Best Actor for 2001's "Training Day," the insufferable Julia Roberts opened up the envelope and prefaced the announcement with "I love my life"! It was obnoxious and unnecessary. She made it all about her.

Yeah the Will Smith incident wrecked the Oscars. The way they still presented him with that award exposed the b.s. and hypocrisy of Hollywood.

I'm not sure if it's true but i read somewhere once, that Joaquin was really pulling for Chadwick to win. And he was also tired that day and just wanted to relax at home with Rooney mara (who just gave birth to their first child). Also the fact that they allowed will Smith to stay in the building after what happened and made that long @$$ speech, but the academy claims they don't condone with violence. Like Chris rock should not have made that joke, but will Smith should've just talked to Chris rock about it.

Will smiths night will never be knocked off the pedestal as the most bizarre thing to happen at the oscars. I mean he broke the law in the most public way possible and then won best actor.

With regards to the Sean Connery one, if the actress names are submitted as Kathy Bates and Catherine Zeta-Jones…Kathy Bates being confused would make more sense if she went by Katherine Bates

At the 1970 Oscar ceremonies, Barbra Streisand plays coy after opening the Best Actor envelope. She says, "I'm not gonna tell ya." (Then the winner's name, John Wayne.)

Holy crap....what a terrible idea for a video. let's look at teeny tiny things and amplify them. Jack Palance didn't read the name fast enough!! OMG! What a crime. Meryl didn't open the envelope on camera. How terrible! Good grief. Why is so much of this channel "the worst this" and "the worst that"?

One of the worst winner announcements in my opinion is when Denzel said “by a nose!” To Nicole Kidman. He was probably trying to make a joke but it has the connotation that she won because of her prosthetic and not her acting. 🤷🏻♀️
@LucyLioness1004 ай бұрын
Given Nicholson made fun of her prosthetic nose at the GGs (high on Valium kind you), it’s not shocking that Denzel was gonna make a joke; you can see though he was happy for her win

This reminds me of the Daytime Emmys when they announced Susan Flannery as the winner, but the award show Directing team played the All My Children music and the camera went to Susan LUCCI backstage who starts walking out as if she just won her 2nd Emmy. Only to realize her name was never called. Shame on the Daytime Emmys for that one. Just awful.

When the Adele Dazeem thing happened, my dad honestly and completely sincerely thought that this was how Idina Menzel was pronounced. We'd only ever seen the name written out and he legitimately tried to argue with my sister and I that this was how her name was pronounced.

I think the academy leadership should have gotten together on a call and declared Smith ineligible due to assaulting a presenter and gone with the runner up ie the actor with the second most votes. Then they award him and it’s pretty sucky to see people standing and applauding.

They showed clips from each Best Picture nominee so it was only fitting they announce the winner just like Best Original Song. Pacino did nothing wrong.

I completely agree with you when you talked about the cast of Pulp Fiction. Hollywood is a bunch of people with no backbone who are so afraid to maintain their image that they would give a standing ovation to a terrible person who just assaulted someone. They're all sick, in my opinion.

I would have included the 6th ceremony as well but for a different reason. Will Rogers invited Best Actress nominees May Robson and Diana Wynyard onstage, congratulated them for their "sparkling performances," probably leading everyone to think that there was a tie (there was the year before for Best Actor). He then announced the winner as. . . Katherine Hepburn. Ouch. I bet that stung. You make a great list, but this should have been near the top.
