Hello, thank you very much for this great video. I'm a märklin railroader for eight years and it is always very nice to see a modell-railroad layout growing. Good luck and much joy with märklin! Paul

Hi Paul - I am glad you enjoyed :-) I have been a Märklin fan for a long time. Never had a layout - always been doing temporary setups (mosrly on the floor). Planning a more permanent layout in the future and hope to cover it on this channel. Enjoy!

@@ModelTrainFun My setup is on the floor too. I think it is the easiest and for my conditions the best way to do model-railroading, because you can run large trains and change the track-layout whenever you want. I am happy to see more videos like this in future on your channel. :-)

Hi Pop's Rock, I always loved the train crashes in the Addams family. Unfortunately modern model trains are really expensive, so I want to avoid it ;-) Furthermore, they are not as spectacular as in the Addams family - missing some smoke and explosions. Enjoy ;-)

Would you say C tracks or M tracks are the best? I grew up with M tracks and I have never tried anything else...
@ModelTrainFun
@ModelTrainFun 8 ай бұрын
Hi, M-tracks are no longer produced and the C-tracks are the modern choice. The C-tracks are more reliable than M-track and generally works better. Furthermore, C-track has more geometrical choices e.g. large radius curved turnouts. However, dont necessarily get rid of your M-track as they still work and can be used. You can also mix C- and M-track using the 24951 adapter track. You could go for C-track only, but that is also a large investment. Enjoy ;-) Bo

Hi David, I am using H0 scale because to me it is easier and not too small. I have N-scale as well and find the modern n-scale is very advanced. You can find everything from digital locomotives with sound to all the accessories. Consider choosing based on where you can find the models you like and if you go H0 don't forget Märklin is special with 3-rails. H0 vs N? I love my N scale trains and I see many modellers building N scale layouts - I am envious at how big a layout you can make on a small space. At the same time i find it very small. I have both to try it out, but will mainly do H0 as I the most H0 rolling stock and as I get older n scale might become too fiddly? But modern N scale is nice! Enjoy ;-) Bo

No model train stores where I live either - only issue I have is: I must to have patience to wait for what I have ordered. Would prefer to see stuff before buying and always great with a store to get advice. Always support local model train store, if there is one. Enjoy ;-)

Can i run piko or roco locos on marklin track? George, Romania
@ModelTrainFun
@ModelTrainFun 2 жыл бұрын
Hi George, both Piko and Roco make most of their locomotives in a version that can run on Märklin track. Märklin is a 3-rail system with an extra pickup underneath (slider). Piko calls it "Wechselstrom" and depicts a "~" while Roco calls it "AC". For both remember to double check it has a decoder if you are running digital. All cars can run on Märklin track, but you might need to exchange wheels if it is important for you to have contact tracks working for the cars. Enjoy ;-)

@ModelTrainFun
@ModelTrainFun 7 ай бұрын
Hi Sanijel, Creating a layout is limited by your imagination and what you want to make. You can check out this video about the C-track geometry to get some ideas: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJnVfGOvoctsm8k In addition to this you can find some ideas on the Märklin web site: static.maerklin.de/damcontent/82/d8/82d80665dc45addaaa8a3ebfc65abce11704981419.pdf These are the C-track extension sets C1-5. Modern Märklin locomotives are digital. Ideas for locomotives you can see in my unboxing videos: kzbin.info/aero/PLYAhs-Pox3sH0Qi2SAGr05i3q-aR6S0WX You can also used other brands as described in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJzIgZeghrOtrdU You can search on the Märklin website for more information here: www.maerklin.de/en/service/product-database To search for locomotives in Märklin H0 scale choose: Gauge=H0 Article Group=Locomotives To search for C-track in Märklin H0 scale choose: Gauge=H0 Article Group=Railtracks SubGroup=C-Gauge Look for tracks starting with 24xxx As a last advice, please be aware that Märklin track and locomotives are 3-rail. To me this makes it easier for beginners, but is not compatible with 2-rail systems. Märklin, Roco, PIKO, Brawa are some brands making locomotives for 3-rail and covers mainly German, Austrian and Swiss locomotives in additionto some from other European countries. if you are interested in e.g. US locomotives there is only a few and you should consider another system. Hope this helps ;-) Bo

One question. The sprinter and the yellow loco have some trouble passing one of the curved turnouts. They get slower and struggle there, they are almost stopped. What is the reason behind this? Thanx very much!
@ModelTrainFun
@ModelTrainFun 10 ай бұрын
Hi Péter, I think you are talking about what happens at e.g. 12:50 for the sprinter? It is a long time since I recorded this video, so I hadly remember this video ;-) However, the slider is on the center bogie of the sprinter and it seems the slider is just after the turnout when it slows down. You can also see at 15:50 that the yellow shunter pauses at exactly the same place with the slider - on the yellow shunter it is on the front bogie. Best I can see is that there is a dirty spot on the track? Interestingly it does not affect the steam engine at 16:04... Hope this helps! Enjoy ;-) Bo

Hi, sorry for my bad english i speak it just a little, i'm italian and i'm at first experience with Marklin but i read that Ms2 support only 2 trains at a time. How is possible that you run 3 trains?
@ModelTrainFun
@ModelTrainFun 2 жыл бұрын
Great to meet an Italian on the channel! The MS2 can store multiple locomotives in it's memory. With the latest version of the MS2 you can have up to 40 locomotives you can shift between. You can start a locomotive, change to another - start this one, and change to yet another locomotive. By shifting between locomotives you can control all of they on the layout. Alternatively, you can connect two MS2 to the same layout. Eventhough the MS2 can store 40 locomotives not all can run at the same time - however, this is due to the MS2 having a smaller power supply. Hence, depending on the power usage for locomotives, turnouts, signals and so on you can control something like 5-8 locomotives. Check out the video "Adding & Controlling Locomotives with Märklin Mobile Station 2 (MS2 Episode 2)" on this channel for how to do this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l3PTnmN7gJlgfZo Welcome to Märklin and I hope you enjoy your trains ;-)
@vila6969
@vila6969 2 жыл бұрын
@@ModelTrainFun Thanks a lot for the answer!!! Ok, The problem is not the MS2 but the power supply! I know that the MS2 can store up to 40 locomotives but If you read pag11 of instruction manual starter set 29074 :" Information about Operating the Train" is specified: Running maximum 2 trains! However as you say depends on the power absorbed by the locomotives. Thanks again. Ciao!

Hey, quick question im new to model trains and i was curious if this works with hornby and bachmann trains?
@ModelTrainFun
@ModelTrainFun Ай бұрын
Hi Thomas, The Märklin track (3-rail) are not compatible with Hornby or Bachmann. You can find similar track from Trix (2-rail) that are compatible. Märklin tracks are special as the Märklin locomotives pick up power from a center rail. However, you can find the same locomotives from Trix which can run with Hornby/Bachmann. Do remember that the UK OO scale is different from H0 scale - they run on same tracks, but the UK OO scale is out of proportions (bigger) so they look funky next to each other. The Mobile Station 2 (MS2) can be used with any DCC compatible system, but you might have other controllers in the UK that are more preferable. Hope this helps! Enjoy ;-) Bo
@ModelTrainFun
@ModelTrainFun Ай бұрын
Hence, there is some compatibility, but you might be better off finding something more standard for Hornby/Bachmann. Ask around with friends and in your favorite model train store. Enjoy ;-) Bo

How can 24671/24672 work with 24230 to make a parallel track along with 29000? Or I can only deploy 24611/24612 to form a parallel? THANKS!!!
@ModelTrainFun
@ModelTrainFun 3 жыл бұрын
If you have two parallel tracks where the inner is R1 curve (24130) and the outer curve is R2 (24230) you can use the 24671/24672 curves to get from one track to another as described in the episode 3 video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJnVfGOvoctsm8k Did that help? or are you thinking about getting from R2 to R3 curve?

@@ModelTrainFun I figured out how to form a parallel track (inner) with 29000 : 24077 x 4 24130 x 4 24672 x 1 24671 x 1 24188 x 2 24172 x 2 By this way, the length of the starter will remain the same ( 170 cm) , but the width becomes 100.15 cm. Hope my calculation is correct!
