Blake, they do make leather cinch connectors. I have one on my barrel saddle (I refuse to ride a western saddle without a back cinch after going over a head) you've done an absolute wonderful job with Spirit. He trusts you big time. Alan, with the donkeys, you have a jack already! Let Cisco grow up and breed Salt and the unnamed new gal if you keep her, but don't let him breed his momma if you want to breed donkeys plus that will give you time while Cisco grows up to decide. If you buy a jack now you will most likely have issues between him and Cisco when Cisco comes into his own and you'll have to separate or geld one. Just an idea and my thoughts.
@johnmccaughan41954 жыл бұрын
Spirit is looking good. If I was going to load horses in my trailer without it on the truck, I think I would take a 4 legged jack stand and weld a trailer ball in the top and hook the trailer to that. I don't like the side mount stands it is easy to replace the one you have. Take the bolts out hammer flat and stick a new one in. Just have a rule that it is always rolled completely up.

Blake is Spirit one of the two yearlings your dad purchased and brought home? Or is Spirit another older dun horse you had at The Farm? The new horses need a lot of good groceries, daily exercise (not riding), a strong ground work foundation. This will stimulate growth, filling out, and height. She is clearly a sweet little horse. When I raised my colts and fillies if one had a rough start and hadn't reached growth potential I would do trail obstacles in hand, add calf manna to the diet, and postpone riding until they were two and a half or three, but they were solid on ground work. Keep up the great work you will have some good horses to sell.
