UN 1202 is Diesel fuel. Sodium Hydroxide is Lye or also known as Caustic Soda. Used for soaps and cleaners. Great video this morning.

BNSF has 6 trains dedicated to cottonseed coming in to CA. 4 to Fresno, and one each to Modesto and King's Park.

Thank you. I know it has multiple uses. I know cottonseed hulls are used for loss of circulation on oil drilling rigs. Prior to the railroad, I worked on one for a few months and carried hundreds of bags of it from trucks to the rig, then from there to the mud tank. UGH!

I remember when the UP took over was at Santa Barbara and the main tracks were renumbered as well. The UP never gave us any information on the track redesignation. Still look at Tehachapi and still remember 1 as the west main and 2 for the eastbound main. Remember when the speed was 25 instead of 23mph. Great video Mark.

Mark, you are now a member of the "Old Heads". The Time Table was clear and concise: East was "east", and West was "best," or "less". THEREFORE, when there were two tracks, the North track was north of the South track, based on the Time Table designation of East and West. Perfect, irrefutable logic.

UP/ SP Merger in my Opinion was the Worse Railroad Merger and I Didn't like the Way Union Pacific Came Heavy Handed When taking the Southern Pacific over in 1996 Southern Pacific will always be my Favorite Railroad Mark Because the Southern Pacific Got me into Railfanning Growing up in California as a Kid back in the 1990s Rest in Peace Southern Pacific ❤❤❤❤❤❤

They don't have sugar beet trains anymore, at least not around here. The health conscious crowd fell for the lie of artificial sweeteners. Everyone else decided the savings using HFCS was the way to go.
