If you do replace the intake. I would recommend an S&B non-oiled, you can find plenty of info out there proving K&N does not filter dirt very well. Also the stock intake and exhuast are Dyno proven to support 500HP. ( The DIesel Podcast) so you could focus spending your money elsewhere unless you just like the sound. I've been doing a lot of research since buying my LB7, just thought I would share what I have found.

yah crazy how so much people are misinformed on “cold air intakes”…people just assume you slap a “k&n” and call it a day, but going from the sealed factory i take to an exposed non-sealed cone just makes it worse🤦‍♂️ it’s literally a hot air intake unless the filter is enclosed…this needs to be told more, and more people need to find out about Gale Banks

Another note is hsp or wcfab have aluminum intakes which make a lot more sound than the plastics of the s&b or k&n. Also a fleece turbo can do wonders

I added a fleece turbo on mines an I do hear the whistle but not as expected has a 4 inch straight pipe not sure if it has a down pipe upgrade that’s something imma check next an hsp cold air intake

Downpipe, exhaust, cold air, intake horn, and a upgraded turbo wheel, will make more turbo noise but save your money and buy a bigger turbo and have better performance.

I also have a 04 but mine is the 04.5 lly and I have the s&b sealed cold air intake with s&b turbo mouth piece straight pipe 5 inch back to 8" tip and a cheap ppe stage 5 tuner and with just those mods she sounds great. I really want to get the turbo wheel upgraded, maybe a aftermarket down pipe install my egr blocker plate and in time a fuel dog lift pump. It’s not cheap or easy to work on these chevys so the turbo wheel might not happen unless I have to do work on the turbo down the road same with the lift pump it’s pretty expensive to buy and I have kryptonite upper control arms and really want to get a full kryptonite upgraded full front end but like I said nothing is cheap for a diesel and the truck is probably a $10,000 truck now so once you get to where I’m at and the truck owes me around 20k in 4 years I owned it and I’m at that point where I’ll never get my money back for the truck and I’m not even in that deep parts wise yet. It’s unbelievable how much companies want for a up or down pipe like there steel pipes that no one sees and are really over priced. Anyway great video my friend wish me luck 🤦‍♂️

I just had my truck deleted a while back an a straight pipe put on it . Would it make it sound even better if I blocked the Turbo thing and put a an intake like that on? I would love to get a more vicious rambling sound out of it.

You mention tires, what brand/type so you want instead of the ones on the truck now? …….General Grabber ATX are nice. Continental makes them. RN I’m running 20x10 Moto Metal rims with Cooper Discover at3 285/55/20 good for 3 seasons. Not so great for pushing snow up here in PA.

Ive got a 2011 LML with a 4 inch straight pipe and zero emissions equipment, its loud as hell but if you floor it under an overpass it will physically hurt your ears. I highly suggest.

DO NOT USE A K&N OPEN ELEMENT FILTER on the Duramax! Need an example, look at this guys filter, it looks like absolute shit and AIR QUALITY WILL MAKE OR KILL A DIESEL! The stock air box on a Duramax will easily support a 500 HP tune. NEVER USE OPEN AIR FILTERS ON THESE TRUCKS! SIDE NOTE: NEVER take diesel advise from a guy whose goal is nothing but a louder turbo "Whistle", that mentality is destructive in the diesel scene.
