Yes, as an American, I wish we could ditch our measuring system and Fahrenheit temperature rating. Fahrenheit makes no sense when you know that in Celsius, 0 is freezing and 100 is boiling, 32F and 212F, respectively.

Inner tubes are underrated especially ones withremovable valves because you can then use tibeless sealant in them and have an extra layer of puncture insurance

The Tacx Neo designers were missing the ‘slip’ feature of wheel-on trainers so decided to include it in the software which controls the virtual flywheel. Occasionally when I stomp on the pedals and my nethers suddenly hit the frame it gives me a warm fuzzy nostalgic feeling of 2011.

The Jack Reacher reference to pie is incorrect as Peach pie was being served. Pumpkin pie is a traditional North American Thanksgiving desert due to pumpkins ripening in late fall. It is delicious by the way. Canada like Britain is also a country where references to kilometers and miles get mixed. I was in grade school when Canada switched to metric so I still think in Fahrenheit for temperatures (walking to school in winter) and kilometers for distance (started driving over a decade later).

On the subject of Americanisms, a lot of that was pretty funny. Speaking as an American, that is. American biscuits are kinda like a cross between a scone and a croissant. Fluffy and bready, but also flaky. They're delightful. As for Fahrenheit, it has its place. It's more applicable to human experience than Celsius is, since there's a lot more granularity, but it has very little place in engineering. And as for pumpkin pie, y'all kinda fully misunderstood it. Pumpkin pie filling is mostly a custard with a crap ton of baking spices in it. If it's made right, it tastes sweet and creamy, and with a mix of clove, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg. It's a popular icon for a reason, and yet it's still underrated. Also, never roast your own pumpkin, just buy it canned. The canned stuff tastes exactly the same and I cannot stress enough that roasting pumpkins is a huge amount of effort. Just get the canned stuff.

I'm an American, but became a cyclist in Canada. Therefore, I am now bad at both Farenheit and Celcius. Bicycles travel by kilometers and the speed is in kilometers per hour, but cars travel by miles and the speed is in miles per hour. Weightlifting is in pounds. Unfortunately my Garmin watch/app/headunit system makes me choose what unit system to use universally, so I can't have cycling in kilometers and lifting in pounds at the same time. Damnit.

Yes, I have a "traditional, non-direct drive trainer" (Kurt Kinetic) with a "turbo tire" (Continental) on a "turbo wheel," and the turbo tire was a huge improvement and eliminated the black trail of rubber particles that had been shooting out the back of my trainer and up the wall of my sunroom! A direct drive trainer is on my list! Yeah, you guys are totally missing the mark on U.S. biscuits. They aren't cookies and they aren't scones and they aren't intended to be eaten by themselves, rather you either go savory and pour some meat gravy over them or you go sweet and eat them with butter and jam/honey. Yes, all of our measurements are stupid. And I'm old! Francis, if you didn't have pumpkin pie with your meal, then you didn't have the true Thanksgiving experience. There's always next year, though!

As a American, we tend to identify a Metric Century vs Imperial Century to clarify the distance. And it is common for Gravel events to have both distances as the basis for course length offerings For example they would have 100, 62, 32, 18 mile route distances so there is something for everyone. Its some what strange in that space.

The times I have felt completely disregarded, as opposed to not being seen, have been in wealthy areas. Rich people think they can just pay their way out of anything they do.

The thing is, pumpkin is truly disgusting. The ONLY way to make it even remotely edible is to do what they do with pumpkin pie filling: mash it up and combine it with so much sugar and spices that it might as well be styrofoam as pumpkin. It becomes nothing more than a medium in which to suspend all your spices and sugar.

HED still makes the JET series which are alloy wheels with the Carbon Fairing as Francis refers to. This gives an alloy braking surface and thin carbon skin with varying depths. Aero benefits but better braking than a carbon rim brake wheelset.

Fahrenheit overrated? This is coming from a country that drives on the wrong side of the road!😂. Jack Reacher’s attempt to eat pie was a peach pie. The program was set in Georgia which is famous for growing peaches as well as peanuts for peanut butter. Peanut butter and strawberry jam sandwiches are my frequent go to lunch. It seems that in the UK some prefer miles and others kilometers. I use kilometers sometimes. 100 kilometers sounds better than 62 miles!😂

If you didn't have a bunch of random pies afterwards, you didn't have a proper American Thanksgiving! Pumpkin pie is like a custard pie, but can be spicier. There is also a sweet potato variation. Buttermilk biscuits are what you're looking for. Like chicken and dumplings, they rarely come out the same, can be hit or miss, and we often prefer "pop-n-serve" Grands Flakey biscuits for this reason. Scones are dry, more like a cookie, or even a soft biscotti. Blueberry, orange cranberry, and lemon poppy-seed are popular flavors.

I've done a PUMPKIN PIE RIDE. It was a Century (miles). At the conclusion of the ride you were offered a slice of pumpkin pie. No mater how I felt at the end of the ride I ate that pie...it was great!

The US doesn't have imperial measurements, it has US units and they _are_ different to Imperial. e.g. Imperial pints and gallons are bigger than US equivalents. Also money isn't "metric" as such it's decimal. The metric system is more about how all the units relate to each other. e.g. 10cm cubed holds 1 litre of water. 1 litre of water weighs 1Kg. 1 metre cubed weighs 1 tonne (or 1000 Kg).

From a lexical standpoint a century is in fact 100 years, thats were the word derives from. Cycling in the UK a century is more than typically known as 200 miles because we work in miles, but as a sport thats were the lines can be blurred. Either way 200 miles or 321 kilometres is a long day in the saddle and should always be commended.

In the US, road signs present distances in a somewhat confusing combination of miles, fractional miles, yards, and feet. So a sign might say some destination is 50 miles away, but an exit is 3/4 of a mile away, or 500 yards, or 1000 ft.

Metric is a great system, even in good old imperial Britain! In the UK we have MPH road signs, ergo; a century is a hundred miles! For the Rapha squad with Garmin 10** computers that need to look lean and mean then simply call your km centuries a "metric century", there is no shame in trying to cheat 😉 But a real, good old Blighty 🇬🇧 century can only be in miles 😁👍

Bike "dashcams" like Cycliq Over/Under Rated? I think underrated - I use mine during commuting. Unfortunately Cycliq interferes with my Wahoo GPS/Route Following so if I need to use for a planned route the camera needs to be off. But they are very important for evidence if a crash occurs Cycling Caps (Casquette).... Over/Under Rated? I think underrated - I always wear one under my helmet. It's an extra layer to keep sweat off my brow and then my eyes. When it's sunny it keeps the sun out of my eyes, especially in low sun in the morning and evening. Like a sun visor in a car. And in the rain it reduces the amount of rain that hits my glasses (I wear prescription cycling glasses).

There might be a very simple answer (albeit not necessarily *socially* convincing) in emergency vehicles using their flashing lights in daylight. Is it more visible? It's an imperial century or a metric century. The funny thing is that until 1959 your imperial century and ours were different because we defined a mile differently. I am mildly amused by metric half centuries, because there's nothing special about them. If I'm at 48 miles, i'll go ahead and finish an imperial half, but I would never do that at if I were at 30 miles.

Gramma Pie, done right, is ... just ... ace. 'done right' is absolutely the tricky bit as it is very easy to bugger up the taste variables and your staring gourd can be quite different straight off the bat. Even the serving topping can alter the result. We tended to go with milk, ice cream or cream of which were kind of based off crust thickness. One xmas I went the Chrissy Custard route (mmm brandy) aaand nup, detracted it. The pumpkin pie is never going to be fantastic or amazing, it's more like... "home". A contentedness. a-la Sunday dinner mashed potatoes, whatever your preferred style there's always the "that's how (parent) made it".

The food thing is funny. Because at the same time, If you check out a lot of these *"Americans trying out British food"* videos on youtube. The Americans tend to not like what they are given, say it tastes funny or that it tastes bland. Then they get given a fairly _'British'_ curry (Pretty ironic) and they went from bland to _"its not so bad"_ or _"Its pretty good"_ . Shepards Pie - Meh, Toad in the hole - Meh, bangersnmash - meh, Full English Breakfast - weird..... One of the comments I remember hearing was the Brits colonised India so hard but yet their food is so bland 🤣🤣

i been using latex tube for a while and changed to vittoria tpu tubes last month, front wheel tpu tube popped from inside around the valve area when im descending on my rim break trek madone 9 series. that day i literally carried my bike to the bike shop and set up as tubeless (conti 5k str) plus vittoria air liner after that case. will never use tubes anymore.

We are in the UK, therefore all our road measurements are miles-so a century ride ‘should’ be 100 miles….. Having said that a mate of mine who is 78 and has raced since he was 10 always records his rides in kilometres-I do both and I’m 75….. You pair are children so of course you use temperature in centigrade-I do both but still think in Fahrenheit….. In the states biscuits and gravy is a thing-which sounded really weird to me until my daughter moved to Des Moines Iowa and explained it to me.

I've never in my life heard the term "mile century". If we say we're doing a century in the US, we mean 100 miles. If we're doing the metric version, we specifically call it a "metric century", meaning 62.whatever miles.

Daytime running lights are definitely under rated. A blinking or always on daytime headlight is an amazing thing. American bicuits - Used on top of certain soups, and, also served for breakfast with sausage gravy. They are awesome with sausage gravy.

For me, a Brit and close to 50, any distance is done in miles. I've never used kilometers for anything, ever. When I see cycling posts/videos it's nearly always kilometers and I have to convert to miles to have any concept of how far they mean. The only time I saw kilometers was on an E-Bike.
