Great videos Karen, weaning can be very stressful on both farmer and cattle, I use the "Easy Wean" method , I get calves on a couple of Kgs meals' once they get eating meals I put them in' put on the easy wean nose flaps and leave them off with the cows for another 7 days or so, bring them back in after 7 or 8 days, separate them from the cows, leave off the cows , remove the nose flaps from the calves and keep them separated , no bellowing , no racket, could increase the meals for the calves. no cows stressed either, I would never do it any other way now. Best of luck Karen you are doing a mighty job.

There's something wrong with the star system if all your cows don't have 5 stars. It doesn't make sense that you're cows that produce top quailty calves don't have stars yet everything outta the dairy herd for beef is 5 star.
@karenmoynihanfarm2 ай бұрын
Oh trust me I know. I have more 2 and 3 star animals than 4 or 5 🙄
@user-qj2ge5hz4d2 ай бұрын
@@karenmoynihanfarm Same here. And my 2 star animals calve unassisted and rear the highest priced calves when I sell them. I had to buy bucket reared dairy cross heifers to bring up my stars. These always have the lightest calf and I can't use a Charolais bull on them like my Saler cross heifers.
@karenmoynihanfarm2 ай бұрын

Some transformation with the reseeded field karen it's like a new field and also the calf's do you eventually castrate the bulls or leave them as bulls?
@karenmoynihanfarm2 ай бұрын
All bull calves are castrated at under 10 days. I find it easier for myself and less stressful on the calf. It sets them back earlier than if I squeezed them later on but I think they do just as well as squeezed bullocks in the end

Hi Karen, When you are greasing the tractor, do you grease the front axle pivot bushing?
@karenmoynihanfarm2 ай бұрын

It's the pin under the tractor that the axle pivots on to move up and down on
@karenmoynihanfarm2 ай бұрын
@@leylandmini26 Oh, no but now I must go look for it and do it
@michaelcoriordan2 ай бұрын
When you are standing at the back of the tractor, go to the right-hand side to the front axle. Left and right on a machine is always taken standing at the back of the machine. When you look in the engine by the side panel to where you can see the fan, you will see a grease nipple at the bottom of the side panel. Just give this a few shots of grease every so often, depending on how often you use the tractor. Don't overload it with grease because it can come out near the bottom pulley for the fan, and this will cause the fan belt to start slipping which in turn will result in the battery not being fully charged.
@michaelcoriordan2 ай бұрын
Don't forget to grease the 4 wheel drive shaft and bushings as well. 👍
