Ah it'll be an epic and difficult trip but cannot wait. Fingers crossed that conditions stay good for the window we're there. I'm mainly inspired by Jeremy Wade and Gary Newman :) - I want to highlight and contribute to raising awareness of their plight in the film too. Jeremy explained to me that people fishing for them and creating value in that sense can be part of the solution in getting them properly protected from environmental harm/dynamite fishing etc.

Don't do what my mate did, and turn up at the end of the season when all the mahseer camps had gone home and had to live on catfish to survive for 2 weeks, drinking unpurified river water, sleeping in an open air hammock with scorpions and spiders climbing in to nestle in his warm bits... When it rained, the massive spiders and scorpions went away... So some relief there. haha He came back a few stone lighter, and he was skin and bone when he left. Amazingly didn't catch malaria. Feature of that trip was poachers bombing the river with high explosives, one of which got picked up by a baby elephant that was then maimed and died. I think he'd read Somewhere Down the Crazy River and it went to his head. He did live to tell the tale though, just. Luke - is/was a legend for that trip. Look forward to seeing how this pans out!

Mahseer are a great fish to chase. So many methods to use. From the big silvers in the Cauvery to the sleek Goldens in the north. An epic fish to sight cast for in places. Just watch out for some of the animals in the areas around the river, as Tigers and Leopards are ever present in many of the river areas, particularly the Saryu and Ramganga.

You really do need to keep fit and strong before you go to India and obviously you're going there to catch a golden mahseer and if you do hook into a golden mahseer you will need all your strength and stamina because they fight alot harder than Mike Tyson.. let's put it this way just a 20 pound mahseer will fight more than a 40 pound carp so make sure you have got a life jacket on just incase you hook into a big one 😂👍

Happy koi mega goldfish...I ordering a shubkyn on line . Bit worrying as I'm relying on someone else's eye to picka good fish. India cool my fav stomping romping meditating ground. No where like it. I'm guessing what the target fish will be. I caught my first on a hand line. The fine art of holding touch ledgering n casting n playing a simple line as in not a rod reel n line. Korda people seem great. India will blow your mind. Three Pillars of well being Good food Good exercise / fishing in fresh March weather Good company...
