Yeah... at this point, after having watched many of these Cheap vs Expensive videos (especially the Buzzfeed ones), its safe to say that Truffles, Gold flakes, and Caviar are an easy hack for restaurants offering exceedingly expensive anything. I feel like Astoria would be so much more relaxing for a tourist. Its a 15-20 min train ride to midtown...It can take longer to get from upper Manhattan to lower Manhattan than it does to get to Astoria from midtown. It just sounds further because its in another boro.

That first slice looks exactly like the slices I would get so often as a kid in NY, about 40+ years ago. Price and size of the slice is the same, too. IIRC it was 1.25 for a slice and a soft drink (possibly 2 slices, I really don't remember). I would not go anywhere near the slices shown from the other places in the video. And I am so tired of people making food expensive for no reason. It's almost always the same adds too. Truffles, gold leaf, foie gras, and caviar add nothing positive to a friggin pizza.

As someone who lived here all my life jus go to any family owned pizza parlor and it’ll be very similar to the pizza we have here, dominos Pizza Hut are gonna serve hot trash but the small family owned joints always some real pizza

I am sure it doesn't if only 2 are ordered every year. They still need to have the ingredients on hand all year long and those ingredients go bad they must throw them away. They must think the publicity is worth it though.

Technically it is because plastic will not ruin the flavor of caviar like wood or metal spoons will. If serving caviar you generally will use a mother of pearl spoon because it doesn't oxidize, and add a metallic taste to the eggs. Plus it is good for presentation, but using a plastic one for adding caviar to a dish is fine.

That last pizza has Dubai Bling written all over it, it would be hard to believe there are no similar offerings here somewhere. That said, if we are talking about value, nothing beats that $1 slice of goodness. I'm a veggie pizza kinda guy and like my classic Margaritas😋 I might get a meaty pizza once a year or so, but pizza for me is mostly a non-meaty dish that's why the $1 slice is my favorite.

Still, there are people out there who believe they should because they can, which I'm not a fan of. But to each their own... Sonny tries everything out there because he is an entertainer and has a dedicated food show. But others who eat outrageously expensive golden-plated meals just for the sake of it... IDK...

Some of those pizza's look insane just from the intro alone, it's a shame in the uk we either have italian, or chicago town pizza, with a few variations of those two types, and that's about it, but there are some pizza places that do turkish pizza as well, which is insanely good!

The only ingredients I liked in the 2k pizza was the foie gras (for the novelty) and the two kinds of cheese. Everything else - the flowers, the gold, the truffles, even the caviar - felt unnecessary.

Caviar is good on its own but would get lost in the pizza. Correct on the flowers and gold. Real truffles are actually amazing and would mix with the cheese well. Foie gras is disgusting, both morally and taste wise. Im not a huge animal rights guy, but shit. No reason to shove a pipe down a ducks neck and force feed it. Like find something else to eat.
