Sadly this little nugget of comedy was a rarity in the Thames Television era of their career. They re-hashed around 70% of their BBC material when the came to Thames. Eric's son Gary said that you had to trawl through a lot of crap in the Thames shows to get to these nuggets of great comedy.

The thing I loved most about sketches like these, was it gave Ernie a chance to really shine comedically, instead of just being Eric's "straight man". Both Eric and Ernie were hilarious in these types of sketches. xD

I worked on this!!!! i was the paws of the Irish wolfhound at the end, the head operated by the late John Thirtle. I have the rehearsal pic taken by Tv Times, on my Facebook page. We also did the wolfhound on the 1978 Xmas Special too!

It doesn't - none of Eric and Ernie's Christmas shows, either on the BBC or at Thames had really much to do about Christmas. Eric said, if you want Christmas with bells on, Santa, reindeer, carol singers etc, watch the Two Ronnies, he felt they were great at that. Eric and Ernie were about the best comedy.
