Classic Morecambe & Wise sketch, in which Eric Morecambe attempts to play Grieg's Piano Concerto ("by Grieg") with Andre Previn doing his best to conduct.

WHAT a classic! If I live to be a hundred I shall never forget this particular Morecambe and Wise sketch and it still has me in fits of laughter, even forty years after it was made! If only we had true comedians like Eric and Ernie these days, who were genuinely hilarious without swearing or being crude as seems to be the case with too many so-called comedians these days.

What a great sport Andre Previn was. Who else but Eric could grip one of the world's leading conductors by the lapels and gently clip his face? This sketch is one of THE greats :)

Ernie Wise plays the whole sketch with such sincerity. I love his reactions when Eric and Andre Previn are begining their confrontation and he's just as note perfect as Eric throughout.

Do you know that he was in America and read the script in the taxi from the airport and if you look at the end you can see that Eric so knows he got it ..my fav of all time and im 50 and grow up with it all xx

Could we get in touch with Grieg ? I didnt bring his phone number with me . Well it's Norway something or other isnt it ? Mind you you might not get him , he might be out skiing . The tears are running down my face , I'm laughing so much . No comedy duo on the face of the Earth will ever come even close to these 2 & I doubt there will be anybody as brilliantly funny ever again . Eric & Ernie , you were the best !

@Feisty1967 he could play the piano and he was trying to learn the Grieg's Piano Concerto at the time but wasn't doing that good a job at it since it is a very complicated piece of music to get right and that is what inspired this sketch.

Remember, at that time Joseph Cooper's "Face the Music" was popular (also on BBC), and that was the theme. That's probably why it was used...
