First of all, Steve would like to express to you my sincere thanks for such clear, simple for the novice fan, or just a person enthusiastic magic stone, very useful and easy to understand video tutorials. With great interest I have studied 7 video parts of the course. A low bow to you for your hard work, patience, and willingness to provide full support to budding amateurs cut. You are a big fellow that does not hide his deep knowledge and experience accumulated over many years of your work and most importantly, you are ready to share this knowledge and pass beginners ... .. It's nice to see it !!! We immediately see that you are very positive and open to other people's people. Once again, thank you very much, Steve !!! On this occasion I wanted you to clarify ... Steve. the machine on which you are running on the video .... as I understand from the video is not Facetron and ULTRA TEC and what kind of manufacturer? Or is it a personal case to order under you? If there are technical specifications or drawing of your cutting and polishing machine would be very grateful to you if you do send ... Here in Russia such equipment for some reason are not commercially available, through the entire Internet and found only you in the United States in California firm ULTRA TEC about you, Steve said in his video. I went to their website to see two options: 1. V5 Classic Faceting Machine - DIGITAL (Right) Order Code: 1607.5CDR $ 4,950. 2. Fantasy Machine Order Code: 2648.7R / 7L $ 3,980. If you have not hard could you comment on Steve which of the two machines by ULTRA TEC better. I am confused ... .. Only the price a little high for me. And the second question: What are the two machines use different on your machine on which you have worked on the video? We in Russia is easier and cheaper with a schematic of the machine image (or having an accurate drawing with all parameters) to order a professional turner working metal the machine for customization, which can be much, I would say many times cheaper than, for example to order in ULTRA TEC $ 5000 plus shipping to Russia, plus customs and all that event could cost in the region of $ 7000-8000 and even more ...... that a lot of money for a beginner cutter (yet novice amateur :-)) How best to proceed Steve and what do you advise? With great respect and hope for long-term cooperation Andrei Chepelev. Russia, Chelyabinsk, Ural Mountains :-) c.gevaraforever@mail.ru P/S I apologize for my English not judge me harshly, I tried ...

+ANDREY SHEPELEFF Шепелефф Авто Групп Нью-Йорк My machine is Alpha Taurus by Imperial Instrument in California. He has quit manufacturing this machine. I may be wrong but I think the Ultra tec you have listed is the current machine and the other the fantasy attachment for that machine. Facetron is less expensive, under $3000 U.S. I have no technical spec for and machines. Imperial gem instruments is in Santa Monica California. 310-450-8725

Hey! I used a "Best WD150/200A", and made a very nice gem.. And that gem i made was the first one I've ever made =) That machine is not supposed to be used to make gems but sharpen knives etc ;D So if u got some technical expertise, you really don't need high tech equipment when your starting out, just a tip for beginners ;) It is a learning curve involved as with every skill in life, unless your super smart ;P PS. What I could never figure out until now was how sculptures were made out of gems, starting with geo-hearts. @zedtheexplorer5206
@zedtheexplorer5206 4 жыл бұрын
Hey just an FYI, this is stuff required for faceting gems to use in jewelry. Since dice are very simple geometric shapes you could get away with using a bench grinder, a fine sandpaper for polishing, and a rotary tool for number marking. This stuff is way beyond the complexity needed for dice making

Whew. Long winded but worth it. You know the attention to detail is there when someone even goes to the effort of putting belt conditioner on the list of things to have to maintain your tools. I don't think I've put belt conditioner on anything! Thats probably why my belts have rotted away over the years. Although I doubt even belt conditioner will stop a belt from rotting but who knows maybe it will! Thankfully it's one of the cheapest items on this list... but for the heck of it I think I'll add it to my list. I have damned near every other chemical, lube, and glue in my arsenal might as well.

Wanting to put a flat surface on a jasper stone I super glued it to a bullet casing. Now that I have cut it how do I get it off?
@Moregems
@Moregems 7 жыл бұрын
Hey nobackhands, the best way to remove a natural untreated jasper, would be to soak it in acetone. This will dissolve the superglue. (That is if the stone is natural and undyed, otherwise it may be an issue and you probably will have to heat it to remove... there is definitely risk involved if you have to heat the stone though. ) Hope this helps, good luck!
