4 years ago when starting my agency I decided to be "the more expensive option" from day one, like, I dont care.... I've put off many potential clients, but that spared me a lot of stress and headache. But I didn't have an ego problem. Working with 4-5 clients yearly made me the same ammount of money (if not more) as if I'd worked with like 12-15 clients on lower prices. There were tough months where I agreed on discounts, it is what it is... But as soon as I was good again - returned to my strategy. It's a riskful strategy in the beginning, but people must understand that they are building their image/brand from the first day.

Good thoughts. My agency started with higher end clients and bigger sized budgets. But during the recession of 2008-09, I took on work at lower prices to keep the agency going when my core clients weren't spending as heavily. But when things turned around in the economy, I returned back to higher prices and bigger projects. Always gotta be reading the current situation of your business.

Your answers are very diplomatic and tactful. I have experienced this scenario a few times, although I notice the better the work gets the less clients look for a cheap price and accept your proposal because they love your work.

So true! Also, the more professional you are in your business and sales approach, the more clients trust you and the less they try to haggle down your pricing. Thanks for commenting!

The negotiation process can be traumatic with some clients. Ugh.
