The funniest thing for me is that the two German presenters apparently don't know most of these things either. If you don't like fish, of course all the fish things are "gross". But I love fried herring with fried potatoes! And the pork bacon, chopped into small pieces and fried well in the pan, is great in scrambled eggs or fried potatoes. It's basically like the savory fat from bacon. And in Germany there is not only mold cheese with blue mold (Roquefort, Bavaria Blue etc.), but also every Brie or Camembert is mold cheese (with white mold). And a greeting to Egypt: we don't have cheese with worms, but we do have mites. But then they're no longer alive. I admit, even though I'm a real cheese fan, I haven't dared to try it yet.

mite cheese is very delicious, and the major problem is only inside the people's heads. My grandfather made mite cheese and I made it too, a couple of years. Unfortunately my mite box is no longer alive, and until now I dindn't found someone who can share something with me.

Well fried pieces of smoked "speck" is delicious, mashed with a stew of potatoes and raw endive. Make a little hole in the stew on your plate, and fill it with gravy and add a smoked sausage. It is a Dutch traditional dish. There are several variations. Replace for example the endive with for example with Kale or; carrots and onions or; sauerkraut or apples and onions; except the endive all vegetables are cooked together with the potato. The speck pieces and smoked sausage van be replaced by any other kind of speck; speckfilet; goulash; other sausages; ham; meatballs.

About the “moldy” cheese. Think of it the next time you pop in some antibiotics. You can have those because of good molds that are antibacterial. Some blue cheeses are the best there are! @Anson_AKB

Maybe a decade ago, i saw those cooked+colored eggs for the first time, but only around easter. After they were a success and sold very well for a few years, the companies started selling them all year round as "party eggs" instead of "easter eggs". Since boiling the eggs removes the natural protective cover that allows to store eggs without refrigeration, they need to be coated somehow to get that effect back, eg by covering them with paint. There is no date printed on those cooked+colored eggs, but the package has that "minimum duration" printed on it, which usually is 3+ weeks. most people won't have problems eating at least 2 eggs per week, even when not checking the date all the time.

And also the word salad has two meanings, one is the vegetable (lettuce) and the other is a cold dish made of mixture of vegetables or fruits, meat, potatoes, fish, cheese... with a dressing like vinegar, mayo, lemon... Just because you can buy beer and wine from the age of 16 and schnapps and liqueur from the age of 18 and consume them in public doesn't mean that there are only drunk people walking around everywhere in Germany. Being drunk in itself is not a criminal offense, but you get into trouble as soon as you can no longer control yourself or cause trouble.

that channel isn't bad at all, but when it comes to cooking and kitchen, i don't trust them when (as germans) they don't know a lot (or sometimes nothing) about german dishes or their ingredients. it also doesn't help to try finding something disgusting and even when someone likes something, insisting that it is disgusting for someone else. except for 'ripe' (stinking) cheese, what they bought could have been my shopping list !!!

My english is to bad to explane... try a translation app or something: Fetter Speck ist zum Auslassen in der Bratpfanne (wegen des Geschmacks) um danach z.b.

Exactly, and drowning everything - Fleischsalat, Kartoffelsalat etc - in mayonaise is more of a northern (and possibly) eastern German thing. In the south - Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg - our potato and Wurstsalat is typically made with oil and vinegar. And the Fleischsalat (made from sausage BTW) I usually buy from my local Metzger (butcher) is made with yoghurt. And Schimmelkäse, e.g. Gorgonzola or Blue Stilton, is very healthy since the blue mold contains or sets free antioxidants, something people have benefitted from at least since the Middle Ages.

Hi People interesting Video about these Foods and the Reaction of the Testers. ☺ I was a little surprised about the "Liversausage (Leberwurst) Thing": Its just Meat, Spices, Lard and Liver (and in that case then boiled and maybe also smoked). It is very similar to a Paté The Meat Salad is cut Sausage (like Wiener Sausage) with Mayo etc. - no Fear it's not raw Meat 🙃 Just my Opinion: The Best Thing is, to buy such Foods in a Butcher Store or the Butcher Counter at the Supermarket The Mouldy Cheese, well...isn´t so my Thing, either. It's an eatable Mould Culture similar to Brie-Cheese. I am hungry now 😋 Bye bye, have a nice Day!

Advocaat is mostly the yolk, while eggnog is mostly the white. Also advocaat (while definitely tasty and drinkable) isn't really meant as a drink while eggnog is, it's mostly meant as a sort of condiment for deserts.

Eierlikör is also very tasty, but it needs to be selfmade!! With the stuff you can buy, you just taste the alcohol. But in this video they find any kind if strange version of it with avocado (maybe a vegan version without eggs, i don't know), I've never seen over here. Try selfmade Eierlikör with some icecream when came back. Soo yummy 😋 Or mix it with ginger ale 👍😎

By the way the reason for the colored eggs in Germany is that you distinguish them from uncooked eggs. By law cooked eggs have to be colored, either in one color or many colors. So you can get colored "easter eggs" all the time in Germany, because they just produce multicolored cooked eggs all the time

"Salat" (literally translated salad) has two meanings in German. 1. The green vegetables, mostly eaten uncooked with vinaigrette. 2. A mix of various things. This could be sausages with pickels and mayonnaise, or other food. Or a messed-up bunch of cables for your phone, or other stuff.

It's not only that coloured eggs are more appealing, but you can tell the cooked from the uncooked. Just imagine you just grab a couple of eggs to put in your lunchbox for work, thinking they're hard-boiled, and then slamming it on the table to crack it open and spilling raw egg over your desk... And Rückenspeck is something you can render out for having some crispy bacon pieces and a lot of fat to fry your veggies or other meat in. A great way to make Schmalz, which is pig fat (or goose / duck fat) that is solid and can be used for high-heat frying, especially for meat. "Lachsfleisch" just means meat from the Schweinelachs, which is the lean piece from the back. Totally delicious. Our cold cut section is like your Peanut Butter aisle :D More options than you need. Blue cheese isn't mine, no, but a nice Brie or Camembert has white mold growing on it, which is edible and important for the taste.

There are many kinds of potato salad. I prefer the tasty one, with added fresh fine cut onions, sour cucumber pieces and vegetable stock as main ingridients. And it is eaten warm after having it set for a few minutes. And yes, you had to peel the potatoes when they were hot! In case you actually made too much, you either can eat it cold the day after, or just fry it in a pan.

The fat stick sure would be disgusting if you tried to eat it as is. Use it in other dishes like soup or when frying stuff as seasoning. As for moldy cheese: don't you have cheeses like camembert or such over in the US? Edible types of mold actually help preserving the cheese. Since the surface is already occupied by the fungus other, more dangerous types of mold have a hard time spoiling the cheese.

"Blue cheese" (the internationally accepted name for 'mouldy cheese') is an acquired taste for sure, but pretty common to see all over the EU, it's mostly produced and exported by France but made in a few other EU countries as well, you should not be afraid to try it, it's made with very strict regulations (pretty much in a lab) and completely safe. It's not comparable to 'mould' like you get on expired produce or whatever & it's mostly enjoyed by people above 35 or something (seems to hit differently at a certain age?) with a glass of wine. Cheese that involves worms/maggots/whatever are just a bridge too far for 99% of us, but apparently it's really good, there's some crazy variants that include booze, but so far that has not convinced me to try it. Now that i think about it, i should probably try some 'light blue cheese' (essentially a beginner version) some time soon, since it's been a few years since i've had some and it does very much seem to tie into age, never really _disliked_ blue cheese but never really wanted it either, maybe these days i'm at an age where i actually like the taste, hmmms 🤔

The salmon meat is pork which is raw, lightly marinated and smoked. Basically a mixture of roast beef and graved salmon. The inside of the cutlet is also called salmon in the long piece. If you remove the cutlet bones you get the pork “salmon”. It is sold raw and in thick slices as minute steaks. I prefer to buy slices of ham rather than salmon meat. It's made in a similar way, but it's much tastier due to the longer maturation and drying process.

Moldy cheese is a fine thing - it's not just any mold, but a noble mold that is also inoculated into the cheese. And they find bacon disgusting for me, they are not German, I love the liver dumplings with bacon cubes that are fried and sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. One of my favorite meals.

Liquor sales vary in the various countries of the EU. In the Netherlands, where I'm from supermarkets may sell beer and wine. For stronger alcoholic beverages you have to go to a liquor store. In Scandinavia you only can buy liquor in state owned liquor store. Prices are outrageous there because of high taxes on any alcoholic beverage. Half a liter of beer is € 4.00 in a supermarket compared to less than one euro in The Netherlands

Hi, Joel! If you say green salad or leaf lettuce or "fresh" mixed salat or vegetable salad it is quite clear what is meant, right? (= Lettuce, tomatoes, corn, beans, etc., maybe with chicken/ grilled chicken, cheese, eggs, maybe fish, shrimps...). Otherwise in the case of "Fleischsalat" (= meat salad) or egg salad, herring salad, potato salad, noodle salad) it's just mixed and stirred ("like a salad") with an appropriate component and a kind of sauce, which usually consists of mayonaise, and this is seasoned a bit with salt, vinegar, possibly herbs, little pieces of pickles and whatever. Btw: German food is often not the most beautiful one, but it tastes hearty. Some thinks are good after drinking alcohol!!! But in this case don`t forget also to eat some healthy things in addition to that. It`s better for you! 😉😆😅 Funny video!
