Middle class and working class are regular people wanting a decent life….. but there are some people who have innate drive to build empires and accumulate power and wealth….. in the history you have such people like Alexander the Great and Genghis Khan …. But in modern time…. Political empires are not acceptable anymore so they pursue economic empires through unrestrained capitalism…. The key word is “unrestrained”…. Then they abuse workers, pollute, all for their god of money and profit …. So they are few in numbers but they have a more vested interest and power and money as compared to numerous working class with little interest in accumulating such things as their god ….

The video focuses on how great the New Deal policies helped America back in the day and now it is a thing of the past, especially in rural Kentucky and how Democrats can win them back (sounds like a liberal Anti-Trump agenda piece). Donald Trump is fighting for domestic jobs and imposing tariffs on countries who are hurting our economy by trade imbalance. No mention of that which is why he won the election. His policy is America first not global interests, not social programs, but fair trade and keeping America safe. That is the message that should resonate - economy and protection should be our two highest priorities. My biggest problem with both sides is they don't care about our unsustainable national debt and only care about boosting the economy at any expense just to win an election.

@loganhurley55902 ай бұрын
The same that the Democratic party is a mix of aligned but distinct interests (Sanders-style leftists, vaguely progressive millionaires, and those concerned about civil rights for ethnic and sexual minorities), the GOP in Kentucky and elsewhere is made up of different interests too. I remember the primary race between Trey Grayson and Rand Paul back when the seat first opened up. Rand Paul won on a mix of educated, upper middle-class libertarian-leaning sections and evangelicals who embraced him for running to the right on things like abortion. The kind of people in this video had little to do with Paul being Kentucky's senator. The forces that drive the general GOP favorability in Kentucky is entirely unrelated to the Trump thing, which gives hope for people who want to use New Deal style politics to win back large portions of Trump voters.
@georgefirth45022 ай бұрын
Self sufficiency, as is Rand's philosophy, is not exactly everyone for himself. People are fully able to work together and help each other all they want to make a good life for everyone. He just doesn't believe that government should be your nanny to solve all your problems. That was a big concern people had with his father when he ran for president. Parents with disabled children or people with special needs were freaked out that he would eventually and gradually discontinue government checks. There are other ways to help people without taking from government. I have never seen a disaster, or a house burn down or many other things where people have not stepped up and gave way more than was needed.
@mndflctzn2 ай бұрын
@@georgefirth4502 "self sufficiency" is good in theory but as much a fairytale in the real world as the left utopian dream of "world peace." In practice, self sufficiency manifests as the rich and powerful exploiting the vulnerable all the while placing the blame on those born with less advantages and making them feel guilty for their circumstances. E.g. "you are poor because you deserve it." Are there lazy people? Sure. But the vast majority are honest hardworking people who do not understand the game in which they play. Self sufficiency is a wolf in sheep's clothing. A farce.

I strongly support and like Harris, but I'm afraid she hasn't done much to reach out to rural working-class white people. The people of Elliot County in this community is conservative. They voted Democrat because their papaws did, not based on policies. Reagan turned Washington into Gucci Gulch, where lobbyists tell our officials what to do, not the people, and this is where a two party system fails. Both parties are right wing. The GOP is just much further right than the Democrats. For democracy (lower case) to work, you have to vote not based on loyalty, but principle. About policy. (And to be fair, federal elections don't do much, rather they choose which oligarchs get policy they like. That needs to change, but the public is not effective at applying pressure to the federal government over election reform.) Elliott County has no friends in Washington, and this makes them super vulnerable to confidence-playing Mussolini-wannabes. They got suckered by Trump, and now that they vote for Trump because their elders did, they'll continue to do so, against their own interests, not recognizing that while the Democratic party doesn't work for them either, it at least works according to coalition and wants to prevent one-party autocracy. To be fair, Obama promised _Hope and Change_ and gave us the same neoliberalism that Clinton gave us (and continuing a lot of George W. Bush policies.) The reason you vote for King Log in an FPTP election is to keep King Heron out of office, even Log does nothing for you. Elliot County voted for King Heron, and even though it wasn't by majority, the Electoral College put Trump in the White House, and we all suffered for it.

The poverty and failures of those countries will never be addressed if the solution is to just leave. The corruption that ruined these countries is still there oppressing the people that can't just escape.
@mittfhАй бұрын
Unfortunately, the leaders of those countries often aren't too concerned with critics of their regime leaving - even if the entire country's economy goes to 💩, they'll still be fine. There are also few levers other countries can apply: UN Resolutions are about as effective as a Strongly Worded Letter, Sanctions predominantly hurt the population rather than the leadership, while military action often causes more problems than it solves. Even worse: the tyrants will increasingly get support from China and Russia to prop up their regime as they offer few Ts and Cs, unlike Western countries who often expect at least token efforts at reform in return for their investment or aid money. The people leaving often have little to no future other than a subsistence existence back home, so unsurprisingly many want to leave - either with their families to start a complete new life elsewhere, or to make enough money overseas to send some back to support their families back home. Sending those from countries where dire punishments aren't meted out to regime critics addresses one problem (at the destination end) while doing nothing about the problems at the source end, which the world is effectively willing to shrug their shoulders and say "Not our problem". There's an even bigger problem with regimes which don't take kindly to critics, as not only do they not mind critics leaving (well, except for prominent ones in the public eye, who they'd prefer were permanently shut up) but as there'd be a realistic prospect of returnees being killed or subjected to torture on return, signatories to the UN Convention Against Torture would be prohibited from returning them. So that leaves the problem of what to do with this cohort of refugees, as (a) no country can take them all in, but also (b) you can't have too many countries refusing to accept any, as if that happens you'll have a growing number of Stateless people, welcome neither in their own country nor anywhere else. Conflicts also increasingly tend to last decades rather than a couple of years. Ideally, countries should hire sufficient asylum case handlers to be able to make decisions quickly, and perhaps also as a companion, ask migrants to compile a barebones CV, so if they have in demand skills, they can be sent to where they'd be most useful and productive in society. A multinational approach could also mean that if they had skills not in demand in the country they'd travelled to, but were in demand in country X, they could be resettled there (likely after some kind of basic skills check to quickly weed out overt liars). But then comes the thorny question of what to do with those that have no useful transferable skills but can't be returned to their home country.

That's abt the best comment said on here. I don't think some people understand the roles of the 3 parts of government . Alot people think the president runs the show but he actually doesn't. Thats why I've been educating and teaching people the roles so they know it's not really the president ruling. The laws are made, congress passing it, then he aigna it.

Finally a video about what is actually going on in this country, it’s no longer republican vs Democrat it is what I’ve seen for a very long time, the working class vs the billionaires in Washington DC and we all need to unite around that fact!
